This traditional IPA has fresh aromas of white flowers and citrus with a clean bitter hop flavour. This classic India Pale Ale is made in Burton upon Trent, the home of British brewing. The recipe uses Fuggles, Goldings and Cascade hops and yeast from the Burton Union System, only used by the Marston’s Brewery in Burton. The famous Burton water is also used in the brewing process which helps give this ale its distinct flavour.

Aroma is quite faint, some yeast, herbal hops and a touch of malt. Flavour is light bitterness, some fruity hops, nothing special, but I could drink this al night.

500ml bottle, pours a copper brown with small white head, fairly mild aroma with caramel and biscuit malts leading into a bitter finish with fruity and grassy hop flavours starting to come through. Pleasant enough.

Bottle from the Cromwell Road Sainsbury’s. Pours light amber with a slight white head. Aroma is floral over light caramel. Med body. Flavor is light caramel with some bitter hop that seems citrus with a little floral tagging along. It is classically bitter. My tongue says that to me. In the bitter finish the malt becomes a slight roast. IPA? Pretty tasty whatever. (just noticed this is an ESB - that fits much better than IPA)

Dark golden colour. Aroma is lightly floral and a bit fruity. Flavour has initial malty taste. Some hop fruitiness, a bit peachy. Overall there’s a metal taste ruins the beer’s finish.

Not very complicated but very serviceable. I enjoyed light floral hoppy top notes, with a little bit of a grassy ending.

For a generic store brand beer this IPA has all the qualities that one should. With a smooth and fruity flavor and bitter palate. It appears light brown with a small head and has a nice smooth aroma to boot!

Has a mild IPA aroma, but generally low on IPA character. Golden with no head but drinkable.
