2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at my parents house, from JS thanks to the old man, 25/01/13.
Hazed mid amber with a good sized frothy white head that retains well.
Nose carries muted hop tones - dumbed down and not very fresh, caramel malts, orange, lemon sherbet, hint of soap, a general musty and tired aroma. Lots of deScriptors but none make it score more than 5 !
Taste comprises faded hops, touch of pine, citrus, orange marmalade, caramel.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, some hop bitterness in a dry finish.
A pretty basic and below par IPA.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy amber, frothy off-white head. Aroma is woody and yeasty. Flavours of caramel and loads of spice. Some citrus too. Spiciness could do with being balanced with sweeter, fruity flavours a little more. Not bad at all but not as well balanced as it could be.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Surprisingly malty on the nose and the taste too, not that IPA-like at all, but good bang for buck me thinks.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Amber with thin lacey head and medium carbonation. Light hoppy aroma with a hint of grass. Taste is malty, grassy, dry with a good crisp tangy bitter finish. Reasonable palate, smooth with fizz, slightly watery. Not particularly differentiated, but decent.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Brownish gold with white head. Gentle, toffee like flavours, malty, caramel all from the off, not much on the hop side that you would expect from a modern IPA, some boiled vegetable notes perhaps. Not really enough happening to make it an IPA I would say

Not getting much to be honest, just a metallic and slightly hoppy taste, not great.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
355 ml bottle. Aroma is thick malt, slightly tart, a little hop. Mouthfeel is greasy, feels like it’s been fermented too hot. Bitterness is actually ok, but not much else around it is. Needs a good blast of late hop on the nose. Won’t be buying again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear deep golden color with a fine thick off white head. Ok lacing. Looks gorgeous. A bit fruity, nutty and malty. Nice body. Ok bitterness and ok sweetness. Fine balance Average carbonation. Mild fruity, nutty, malty and herbal hoppy. Decent ale but not much American style here. Well it does not matter, but they want me to believe that by writing so in the label. Hmm some citrus popps up at last.

355ml bottle from Sainsburys, Shrewsbury. Pours clear copper with big foamy head. Aroma is fruity and resinous. Taste is fruity with pronounced biscuit malts and an almost cloying pine hoppiness. Ok but that’s it.
