COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available in filtered 500ml bottles at Sainsburys supermarkets as part of their Taste The Difference range.

A smooth and fruity beer, bursting with refreshing flavours of citrus fruits combined with rounded, malty notes. This crisp and citrussy beer is brewed using a single hop variety, Earlybird to give a light malty beer with fresh floral aromas.

Copper colored pour. One finger off-white head. A little bit of lacing as it quickly falls. Skunky aroma, some malt, and a bit of perfume. Very hoppy up front, that quickly gives way to a dry maltiness. Thin and doesn’t finish all too well.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. A bitter with a copperish colour and a sweetish spicy hoppy aroma. Taste is malty, with some light fruitiness and brief hoppy finish. For a supermarket own label this is ok - definitely tastes like a passable traditional bitter (or more specificaly a Shepherd Neame beer) - but nothing special.

Has your typical Sheps aroma, which has some sulphury notes and makes them quite readily distinguishable. Soft on the palate, with a good fizz on the back of the tongue. Doesn’t hit you with the Wow factor, but is a great example of a traditional English beer. Some chewiness and citrus work together fairly well, lemon being the discernible flavour in the aftertaste. Has a dry tanginess late on.

50cl bottle poured into a pint glass. Sparkling amber with ample creamy off-white head. Aroma is fruit and floral hops. Flavor is the same. Sticky mouth feel. Lasting bitter hop finish. Not a bad brew.

Bottle at Pat’s birthday tasting at chriso’s. Pretty basic stuff here. Clear gold pour with a foamy, white head. Slightly dank malts in the nose. Sweet flavor, some cereal, weak bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with lightly toasted malts. A pretty typical English bitter.
