Bottled. An amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of nettles, spices, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and nettles, leading to a dry and lightly spicy finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, 500ml from Sainsburys in Banbury. Orange amber with white head. Cardboardy CO2 in the aroma but fortunately this didn’t transfer too much in to the flavour. The flaour gave up a dry caramel, powdery note with an earthy, leafy hop note, with touches of citrus. Sharp, grainy malt. Quite reasonable.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2012 1) 29/11/10. Brilliant bronze, bright white foam. Fizz-sodden aroma of caramel, tea, rabbit hutch and gentle berry fruit. Prickling fizz, hop dryness, sherbet on cardboard...then some decent bread and creamy malt notes lingering long after the swallow. Ash and good jellied hop on the burp. Decent, but damaged. 536312=2.9.
2) Brilliant bronze, slim white neck. Aroma is pure, fresh-plucked English hop off the bine; sherbet, musk, bay leaf custard, cinnamon, Turkish Delight. A showcase for English hop exactly like my homegrown. Decent, mellow, spicy hop flavour like allspice on a Rich Tea biscuit. Some apple and berry fruit. Smear of chocolate. Too fizzy but pretty good. Got to hand it to Sheps- they seem to have mastered the art of pasteurising without destroying the character of their beers. 836314=3.4.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sainsburys Grimsby. Amber gold, big fluffy long lasting white head and moderate condition. Sweet caramel malt and fruity earthy hops in the nose, quite soft in the mouth with a good balance of sweet malt and earthy hops, slight nuttiness in the finish but the earthy hops linger and dominate

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Amber coloured with a slight, off-white head and moderate carbonation. Malty aroma with a touch red fruit and boiled sweets. Sweet, soggy bread flavour with more candy sweetness, a trace of cardboard and short, bitter finish. Another unpleasant pasteurised English beer.
