3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
May 16, 2011 on cask at Volo. Cloudy amber with a solid frothy beige/tan head. Smells literally like Juicy Fruit gum with herbal swamp water; and thatís not as bad as it sounds, but thatís what it seemed like to me. Taste is floral with a bit of sweet plasticene - too sweet. Thin mouth, a little acidity, weak carbonation, a reasonably long bitter finish, but really not ... well, itís weird.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
[3736-20110514] Cask. Strange pungent soapiness and odd grasses in the aroma. Hazy, dark red amber body with a quick bubbly head. Cocoa powder grainy malt flavour has a slight orange tinge to it. Medium body is fairly flat. Odd but grows on you after a while. (6/3/7/3/12) 3.1+

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at Volo, "3rd Annual Ontario Cask IPA Challenge". Pours amber-brown with a small diminishing frothy beige head. Aroma is fruity, sweet and hoppy, I donít love it, thereís something there that doesnít work for me. Flavour is watery but decent, follows the aroma. Average bodied. I didnít much care for it, just O.K.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
3rd annual Ontario Cask IPA Challenge tasted blind. Deep golden-brown pour. A little bit of cocoa and some lightly phenolic yeast character. A bit of sweet chewiness. There is some sort of off-flavour that I canít quite put my finger on, but Iím not a fan of. Seems like a yeast issue. Chewy and too sweet.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2011-05-14. Hazy dark amber body with a small frothy beige head. 3+ Odd aroma is sort of fruity, with an interesting herbaceous leafy green hop profile, tea like accents. 6+ Flavour has a similarly interesting hop profile, leafy herbaceous hops, whispers of tea, sort of an earthy undercurrent but earthy is not quite the right word to describe it. Average plus bodied palate is smooth but under carbonated. Unique, but the hop profile is not to my liking. Just a bit odd overall. Volo Cask IPA Challenge
