October 30, 2011 - Volo Cask Days 2011 - gravity cask. Opaque ruby-brown with a small lasting tan frothy head. Nice aroma - pungently catty-bitter with some nice simple grainy roast, no alcohol intruding. Taste is ... a slightly "English" leafy IPA, sharply herbal/resin bitterness, but a little metallic chemical in there with the porter-like roast. Average body, mild carbonation, really long bitter and slightly harsh finish - so much promise, oh well.

[4056-20111030] Cask. Orange roasted malt aroma. Black brown body with a quick bubbly tan head. Watery roast wood malt flavour. Medium-full body. Not bad but not into it today. (6/3/5/3/11) 2.8

Black pour with a lot of head. Incredibly hoppy aroma with a ton of bright hops and some chewy hops. Resinous and piny with a very lean malt base. The roast is restrained and there is a distinct dark malt component that I quite like. I think he nailed this one. Canít believe itís only 3.5

2011-10-30. Black body with a small forthy than head. 3+ Interesting aroma, hops are kind of herbaceous and green. Flavour is similar, green leafy herbaceous hops, and a funny herbacouse aftertaste. Average bodied palate is very lightly carbonated. Started out well, but I donít think I like the particular hops used here. Cask Days 2011, Toronto
