COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saint Andre is made with a blend of five specialty malts imported from Belgium. These help to create a smooth, complex character which is balanced by a crisp hop flavour. The result is a remarkably drinkable beer that celebrates the best Europe has to offer. Lager in The Bohemian style. Note: Brewed by Doug Pengelly of Ste. Andre at the Stratford Brewing facility.

(Draught) At the Capital City Beer Festival 2004 in Ottawa. Medium, creamy, and highly carbonated head with a deep amber body. Nose is of slight lactic. Milky-malt flavour with a mildly hopped undertone. Above average. One question: Why the sole beer?

Draught @ beerbistro: THIS is made by Cool? The same purveyors of such swill as Millennium Buzz? Colour me shocked. Poured a nice amber-orange with a generous foam head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy, a light complexity that made it difficult to pick out all that’s happening. Flavour is far superior to anything I’ve had from this brewer with an excellent balance of sweet malts and wonderful, bitter hops. Completely surprised by this one, thumbs up.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2008 341 ml bottle - pours a clear amber with a foamy off-white head. Aroma of sweet grainy caramel malts.....very sweet actually. Some light herbal hops in there too. Layers of quality malt with some Saaz hop character and medium carbonation are all present. Really well balanced. Very smooth in the mouth. Refreshing and supremely drinkable - I could go through a 6 of these on a summer night no problem. A great session brew - nice to have an easy drinking lower alcohol beer that is a bit beefier than your generic pale lager. Good stuff.

355mL bottle. Pours a clear amber with minimal head. Light aroma, slightly toasty. Flavour is tasty - bit of maltiness but with a lingering sweetness as well - kind of a roasted nuttiness. Palate is a bit strong on the carbonation. Overall pretty nice.

Slight hoppy aroma. Nice redish brown colour. I like the balance of bitter and malt and creamy smoothness. It is a decent beer. I can taste a little bit of alcohol in the flavour. I've recently read the other day that zinc plays a roll in the sensitivity of your taste and smell. I've been supplimenting my diet with zinc for a month now. I have to agree with what I read. This has made my enjoyment of beer better.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2009 [202-20070206] Tap @ C’est What (Toronto, ON). Medium yeast in aroma. Rich red amber body with small bubbles along the outer rim and a medium-big creamy off-white head. Flavour continues grainy yeast bread and shows some alcohol content. Medium body, gravelly feel. Good togetherness, good to repeat (great pairing with fries). Ɩ/4/6/3/13) 3.2

[2477B-20090829] Bottle sample. Potato chip salty grains and pepper aroma. Slightly hazy, orange amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. More generic grains and watery malt flavour. Watery medium body. Fair. Ɩ/3/6/3/13) 3.1

The aroma is malty, with a touch of hops. Copper, medium vanilla head. Fine malty presence, some nuttiness. Creamy with good bitterness, nicely balanced. A delicious Vienna Lager.
