Balanced toward the hoppy end of the spectrum, this straight-foward, California-style pale is eminently sessionable. Crystal and Munich malts provide a backbone to showcase the bright, citrus, piney notes of Cascade, Chinook, and Simcoe hops.

Pours a finger of head on a clear straw colored body. The aroma is loaded with citrus: lemon and grapefruit mostly, and a little pine. The taste is balanced. Great malt profile with the bitterness taking over halfway through. Lots of citrus here too. The texture is crisp. Nice.

>> Pours neon straw with rockier white foam. Nose is red grapefruit, orange peel, kumquat. Papery, bland taste. Harsher bitterness, long papery astringency. Possibly old keg or oxidizing keg.

5.5 % Can from CBB bought to ring in my 100th APA rating. Served in a lager glass. It pours a good-looking deep gold with a big fluffy head and a wonderful citrusy hop bouquet with a touch of dankness. The taste is tropical fruits, citrus, white grape and a light bitterness with a crisp finish. This is a very good hoppy pale ale that is lightly refreshing and quite satisfying.

Fad: På en restaurant i Balboa Park. Ferien er ved at gå på hæld og jeg er slet ikke færdig med San Diego. Dejlig by. Gylden let diset med et lille skumhoved. Sødlig humlet duft. Ret kedelig egentlig hvor den sætter sig imellem en belgisk blonde og en APA.

Hazy golden pour at The Beer Company. Head disappears. Faint citrus aroma. Taste is malt and some hop astringency. Watery finish. I had hoped for better.

Appearance: A bright, light golden color with an average tight-bubble head. Smell: I initially got an off smell. Sweaty sock. Hmmm. But then I got more citrus and specifically orange aromas. Taste: It was tough for me to get past the initial off smell, but my palate adjusted and the taste evened out. Mouthfeel: Medium to Light body, on spec for a Pale Ale. Drinkability: This one has some hop bite, but the off smell killed my enjoyment. Hopefully just an off bottle. I’ll give any local brewery a second chance so I still look forward to my next Saint Archer.

650ml bottle pours a golden color with a 2 finger white head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is pine and grapefruit with some grainy malts. Taste is a bold grapefruit and pine hop bitterness with an underlying malty sweetness. Light to medium bodied with carbonation typical for this style. This is essentially a pale ale with IPA hop profile. Very bold and tasty.
