Perfect amount of hops and good aftertaste. texas_anarchist99 (15), Huntsville, Texas, USA Jan 3, 2002 Almost perfect amber ale. Nice aroma, beautiful color and assertive flavor. wulfhere (217), Billings, Montana, USA Mar 19, 2004 Updated: Mar 21, 2004cask.
wow.
tried this as a bottled beer and then tried it again at the Gingerman in Houston off the cask. Let me tell you--if you haven't ever tried a cask conditioned beer, you need to do it right away. Holy shit, the flavors are as different as a barleywine from a dubbel.
The hops in a cask conditioned ale are so pure and so true to how they smell when you are brewing that you might as well NEVER drink a bottled beer again. The hops are present and forward, but they have no acidic edge--they smell floral and hoppy without the acid, without the bitterness.
wow. omhper (10393), Stockholm, Sweden Mar 31, 2003 Sampled cask conditioned at The Flying, Saucer, Addison, Texas
Orange coloured and hazy. Citrusy hop aroma. Softly malty with filling mouthfeel and an everlasting citrsuty hop flavour. Bitter finish. Perhaps not the most complex of beers, but this cask version feels so fresh, and is very flavourful.
Excellent clash of British and American beer culture.
