A well balanced, full flavored, amber ale. It has a rich, malty body with a pleasant caramel character derived from a specialty Caravienne malt. A complex hop aroma, with a hint of floral and citrus comes from a combination of Cascades and Liberty hops. It has a rich, creamy head with a fine lace. The light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain. Saint Arnold Amber Ale is best consumed at 50 - 55° Fahrenheit.

One of my favorites and from a great little brewery. Perfect amount of hops and good aftertaste.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2004 cask. wow. tried this as a bottled beer and then tried it again at the Gingerman in Houston off the cask. Let me tell you--if you haven't ever tried a cask conditioned beer, you need to do it right away. Holy shit, the flavors are as different as a barleywine from a dubbel. The hops in a cask conditioned ale are so pure and so true to how they smell when you are brewing that you might as well NEVER drink a bottled beer again. The hops are present and forward, but they have no acidic edge--they smell floral and hoppy without the acid, without the bitterness. wow.

Deliciously balanced malts and hops. Beautiful appearance. One of my recent favorites. Also is as good if not better when dry-hopped with Cascade.

Sampled cask conditioned at The Flying, Saucer, Addison, Texas
Orange coloured and hazy. Citrusy hop aroma. Softly malty with filling mouthfeel and an everlasting citrsuty hop flavour. Bitter finish. Perhaps not the most complex of beers, but this cask version feels so fresh, and is very flavourful. Excellent clash of British and American beer culture.

Seemed slightly light in color to me, but, despite that there was a slight malty-orangeyness on the palate with a lingering finish that made pulled me in for another.

pours a brownish yellow with a decent one finger snowy head. sweet malt aroma with a touch of lemon. smooth full body malt caramel taste. hoppy lemon hints in the finish but the sweetness dominates throughout. not overly sweet, nicely balanced easy drinking with a flavor i am really fond of. this might be my favorite brew from this brewery.
