3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pretty decent Bourbon aroma with Oak notes as well. Tons of vanilla and caramel flavors up front but the thin mouthfeel is a slight disappointment. A great first bbl aged beer from Saint Arnold! Overall a really solid beer!

Aroma is chocolate with caramel and coconut overtones. Pour is black with no head. Flavor is sticky sweet; caramel, coconut, vanilla, and chocolate...the bourbon flavors are strong but the beer holds its ground well. I really wish this brewery would do more great beers like this.

Pours dark dark brown. Nose is super! Thick burnt sugars soaked in bourbon and a candied fruit. Mouthfeel is thick and slightly syrupy. Wow huge thick malts up front with a boozy syrup finishing with something that reminds me of ice cream. Maybe the vanilla. Quite a beast.

Treating myself to this tonight...because I can! 10/26/12 bottle to snifter. Very dark brown pour, nearly black. Still in the glass with a short lived canvas colored head that matches the label on the bottle. Speaking of the bottle, this is a twist off?? Not that it matters much, but it is noteworthy. Fudge brownie aroma is wafting out of the snifter from armís length away. It smells great. With nose close to the rim the fragrance changes to whiskey soaked oak. I prefer to give this a gentle swirl about 6 inches from my face to take in the combined bakers chocolate and what smells like brandy aroma. Taste is sweet vanilla whiskey with a surprisingly subdued roasty bitterness on the mid-palate. The finish is whiskey soaked oak. I drink a lot of Woodford and would not have guessed this to be Woodfird aged. I believe it to be true, but the dark roast of the brew changes the whiskey and Iím sure the whiskey mellowed out the pre-barrel beer. Sweet cream and marshmallow flavors emerge on my second sip. Palate is thinner than might have been expected, but it is by no means weak or lacking in any way. This beer is dangerously good. I would imagine it will continueto age well.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle:   Deep brown, cola hued edges, thin sudsy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Soft bourbon nose, sweet roasted malts, a bit of caramel like graham cracker, slight alcohol.   Bourbon, marshmallow, caramel, graham cracker, and soft vanilla notes on the tongue.   Backside seems to have a lot of vanilla flavor, almost like the stuff you buy at the store.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Was hoping this would be a bit more chewy.   The vanilla aspect of this beer goes from subtle to KAPOW, right in the kisser.   Alcohol is noticeable, but is manageable.   Maltiness could stand to be bigger.   This beer needs to be chewy, and it is not.   However, for what it is, roasty, bourbon, graham cracker, and caramel, its pretty tasty.   Dial down the vanilla, provide a bit more chewiness, and this would be the t*ts.   Thanks Bill for this rarity!

12oz bottle, Flying Saucer, Houston $10. Worth every penny, this was 1 of the best beers I ever had. Aroma was of bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. Appearance was deep dark mahogany with a creamy tan head. Taste of dark malt, chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Medium to heavy mouth feel, with a lingering alcohol taste. Overall this was one of the top 5 beers Iíve ever had. Wish it was available in stores.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle. Pours black with a small tan head. Nose is woody, bourbon, burnt malts, very nice. Taste is very rich and a bit sweet. Alcohol is present but blends in with the big bourbon barrel flavors. This has aged beautifully, much thicker and richer than when it first came out. Probably the best SA beer so far.
