A beautiful, deep copper brown ale. It has a full, malty body with hints of chocolate, a touch of sweetness and a light hop flavor. A complex malt character is created by combining five different types of malts. It has a rich, creamy head with a fine lace. The light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain. Saint Arnold Brown Ale is best consumed at 45-50° Fahrenheit.

Well, the first thing that hit me when I cracked open the bottle and poured was the deceiving scent of Cascade hops. I say deceiving because there was only a light hint of it in the flavor. I did taste traces of chocolate and sweet fruits. The body was definitely present and full. It left fine lace and a light head and was dark brown (uhh..brown ale?) in color with a mohogany tinge. As far as brown ales go, it’s a good one. Of course, I just finished racking some pale ale I am brewing, so I was VERY thirsty for a beer after smelling that wonderful malt aroma. Maybe that had something to do with how good this was. Then again. Maybe not.

Bottle - Toffee, grains and light chocolate. Clear amber with a thin head. Caramel sweetness with a touch of toasted malts and nuts. Pretty average, I like mine with a bit more malt.

Aroma of sweet malt. Pours a medium amber with a rapidly dissipating off-white head and no lacing. The taste is lightly sweet. Bread, biscuit and hint of grain in the finish. Medium-light body with mild carbonatin. Watery mouthfeel. Overall, I’m glad I only bought one 12oz. bottle. SADLY DIISAPOINTING.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a head of medium sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent light brown colored body. The mild aroma was brown malt. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of brown malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

Saint Arnold Brown Ale has a thin, soapy, cream-colored head and a clear, bubbly, copper appearance. The faint aroma is of sweet brown bread, bread crust, and pecan shell. Taste is of sweet brown bread, with a slight, underlying bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Saint Arnold Brown Ale finishes semi-dry, mellow, and highly drinkable. Overall, this is really well done. I recommend getting it and trying it. RJT
