Aroma: Fantastically fragrant nice notes of toasty wheat, floral hops, slight under tones of spice, choclate and a sweet soda like flavor. Appearance: Deep rich amber with a descent pale tan foam Taste: Deep rich full all with balance of hops and sweet malt notes, it is broken up from being overly heavy with notes sweet caramel. Overall: Fantastic and with rather local distribution and a seasonal availability I say grab a sixer spark up a nice fire and grab a friend get toasty while getting toasted on a cold day.

Really solid rendition, great balance and awesome body! Spice is lower for a holiday beer but still stands out as so. Go get some if you can!

Cask pour. Brown pour with tan head. Christmas spices, pine and sweetness aromas. Cinnamon, some darker flavor, finishes with some plum and other Belgian influenced flavors.

Clear, amber. Thin head that didnt last. A nose with a hint of strawberries and subtle spices. Nothing too assertive. Smooooth medium to almost thick body, palate is full of subtle flavors of malt, spices and hops. Very interesting brew. Thanks Legion!

Pours dark copper with a thin white head. Smells of apricots, cherries and raisins? Taste is fruity, but not as obvioud as the bouquet suggests. Mouthfeel and finish are definitely more lively than the other beers I’ve tried from these guys. Very nice.

Pours a rich red/brown, carbonated, fluffy tan head; great looking in the glass. Aroma of medium strength, some grassy hops as well as fruity malt. An initial bitterness gives way to sweet, a slightly viscous mouthfeel and warm finish, hops again with some interesting maltiness there, a touch of caramel. Lasts. Quite well done.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2008 Bottle:12 oz, part of the Christmas in July release by the brewery. Pours a very deep mahogany into the glass with a small off white head. The aroma is very sweet and toasty with some pine-like hop scent. The flavor is very bold and sweet with honey and caramel notes, but is balanced nicely by the bitterness. The palate of this one was where I was surprised. Many St. Arnold brews have seemed a bit on the thin side to me, but this one has a nice full bodied, silky smooth mouthfeel. An excellent brew. Here’s to Christmas In July!

12 oz. bottle from 2004. Pours a orange/amber hue with a slight head. Malty, spicy sweet smell. Medium to full bodied with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Nice malty, spicy sweet and black pepper taste. A very tasty, ultra smooth drinking brew. Jan 2005.

12 oz bottle from ucusty - thanks David! Pours crystal clear copper with a big, fizzy beige head - sounded like soda fizzing when I first poured it. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Somewhat spicy, nutty malt nose, some bread and cinnamon. Surprisingly sweet flavor, lots of bread, caramel and some orange. Some spicy notes - allspice? Lively mouthfeel. Very good!
