COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer was inspired by David Rogers’ winning entry in the 2011 Big Batch Brew Bash homebrew competition. The color is orangy amber with a light, creamy head. The nose has rich malt notes and a little alcohol that combines with a spicy hop note to create a complex bouquet. The taste has a spicy, malty beginning that smoothes out into a creamy middle and a warming finish. While this beer is enjoyable now, it is designed to be aged and will shine after a year or more in the bottle. This will allow sherry flavors to develop as the alcohol oxidizes. It is also important to allow this beer to warm up so that all of the flavors emerge and round out the high alcohol level.

12oz bottle from MikeTD Thanks! A nice sublte orange beer, with almost no head to speak of, but again it is kind of boring malty beer, its still enjoyable but its not dynamic to me, rather flat and simple with a big smooth finish.

Bottle... Mostly clear, deep amber ale with glimmers of orange and a small, fizzy, white head. The bouquet is an assortment of rich malts and fruity hops and esters - notes of vanilla, toffee, fruitcake and medium-dry sherry assert themselves. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and dancing carbonation. The flavor is malty-sweet, but pulls up just shy of cloying - caramel, cotton candy and a splash of crusted port stand out here. Lengthy, malty, fruity finish. Bottle generously provided by Rosebud butternuts!

Murky orange, huge white head. Smells like prune and honey, with hints of raisin. Smooth viscous palate, with some fruity, bready flavors. My wife says it tastes like panatone, which is apparently some fancy raisin bread.

Bottled. Poured clear, medium orange with a short beige head. The aroma picked up sweet honey, toffee, and aged caramel joined by black pepper and lavender notes.. warm and inviting. The flavor found honey, caramel, and whiter vinous sweetness at the core, with grainy notes, peppery alcohol, and oxidation around.. finished sweet, grainy, and warm. Heavier-bodied with a full mouthfeel.. a bit too sweet and boozy.

12 ounce bottle from Secret Santa. Thanks! Pours a hazy amber color with a thin fizzy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of toasted malts, toffee, graham crackers, citrus, floral notes and booze. The taste is stone fruits, candied fruits, citrus, toffee, toasted malts, booze. Medium bodied, high heat. Decent.

Bomber bottle shared with my Dad 1/16/14. Aroma is sweet and malty, maybe with some yeast as we'll. Appearance is a darker bronze with a creamy white head. Taste starts out on the back of the tongue and is a sweeter taste through out. There is a malty dryness as well as some earthiness. Palate is an earthy malt taste. Overall, a good old ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle thanks to djd07. poured into a snifter. head disappeared before I sat down. Very clear pour, dark orange color. Nose of toffee and candy bar nougat. Taste is initially sweet and shows some heat after a few seconds. more heat after that. Wow, warming, almost burning. Malt kind of falls off at the end. I was hoping for some more chewiness and sweetness. just kinda so-so. No real Sherry oxidation (or bad papery either). Not bad, not great.

Bottle shared by someone at Natifest. Pours a clear orange amber color with a thin off white film. The aroma and flavor have a sweet malt forward beginning, bourbon like alcohol, wood, vanilla, caramel, some spicy notes. The nose was not very strong.
