3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rosebud butternuts (2382) - Denton, Texas, USA - JUL 31, 2012Bottle thanks to my crafty hunting skills. Poured nearly Orange with a fast fading head. Aroma was orange, caramel, gold raisin, and something sweet that I didn’t care for too much. Flavor was toffee, alcohol, caramel, dates, and a rich sweet sugary note. Body was medium and slick with medium-high carbonation. I certainly hope it gets better with age.

Bottle from trade with crajun. Pours a cloudy amber color, with low head and a light sweet malt aroma. Flavor is sweet but not over done, and has strong hints of peaches and maybe a little citrus. I don’t really find any hop bitterness in this, which is just fine. Mouthfeel is nice, not thin at all. I almost thought this was a fruit beer since I really didn’t know what style is was brewed as. In any case, this is a nice one, a bit of a surprise, and it stands out from the crowd for sure.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 vipinvelp (1169) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - JAN 19, 2013
Thanks Tiffany, Poors a bit hazy brown ruby color with decent off white foam head. Aroma is dominated by malt, but alcohol is present. Taste is hoppy, but difficult to pinpoint. Bit herbs, alcohol present. Nice long lasting aftertaste, winish. (Velp 201301)
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 raradel (227) - Atlanti Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 18, 2013
Really light coloring for the style like an IPA. Nose is sour fruit, bread, booze. Flavor is deep as heck, more like a big farmhouse or heavy sour. Great body that masks the 10% ABV. Overall, great offering, different in the fact that it excludes all that is roasty and dark, more IPA or Belgian style. Let it warm also...
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 boto (1661) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - JAN 16, 2013
12oz. bottle: Thanks, Kevin! This one pours a slightly hazy, lighter orangish-amber color. The aroma is a bit light for a 10%er, but good none the less. It’s a bit musty, with caramel and citrus notes. Also a bit of breadiness, spices and grassy notes. The taste is good. Body is more towards medium. Slightly bitter/sour taste. Some caramel and spice, as well as some faint fruits. No evidence of the alcohol. Very nice!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 RobertDale (1891) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - DEC 20, 2012
12 ounce bottle. Pours a light cloudy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of fruit, grain, and alcohol. Taste is tropical sweet fruits, caramel, grain, malt, and alcohol. Perhaps it needed more aging.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 presario (4406) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 6, 2012
Bottle. Orange-amber with a bare skiff across the surface. Big manly ABV and strong mouth presence. Nice hop level, enough for an IPA. A little alcohol fume in the finish. Lively for a big beer. A lot in common with an IPA or Barley Wine.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 JStax (1671) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - NOV 12, 2012
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle thanks to Errl. Pours a fairly pale gold with a white froth of head. The aroma is grassy and slightly sweet and buttery. Taste is mildly bitter and fairly delicate in that every aspect of the beer is so slight, you’ve got to work to figure everything out. It’s an interesting beer, and definitely not what I expected. I never would have guessed this was an old ale.
