Wish i could have tried this 4 years ago. I think this has oxidized quite a bit, dark brown with no head. It has a fruity spicy and sweet, caramel taste. the beer still has a warming alcoholic feel. not to bad for a little over 6 year old beer.

12oz bottle 1/13/10 (RSRIZZO’s Winter Gathering courtesy of BeerandBlues2)-Pours a muddy amber with no head. Aroma of caramel, sweetness, and yeast. Taste of the same with more caramel. This full bodied brew was very tasty. Great brew,

Thanks to a friend for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a reddish-amber color with no real head. The aroma has quite a bit of dark fruit in it, as well as some big toffee notes. The flavor is similar. There is a ton of toffee and caramel malt, with some dark fruit (grapes and raisins) as well as some alcohol. As the beer warms, some dark cherry notes really start to come through strongly. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very glad I got to try this one.

Big thanks to bu11zeye for this set... pours a ruby brown with almost no carbonation... smells really sweet, a bit of wheat, rye, spice, a little brown sugar, oxidized but ok... the taste doesn’t hold up as well as the nose, its really oxidized, a bit of chalk, spice, alcohol... this is past its prime
3.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 dyetube (1106) - McKinney, Texas, USA - NOV 4, 2010
From the saint Arnold divine reserve vertical tasting @ the common table on Dallas. This beer pours a medium amber with a thin off white head. The aromas are musty closet. Themouthfeel is sweet and sticky with a little bitterness on the backend. This one really mellowed weep! Awesome beer! Cheers!

A: The pour is a nice amber color, but there are some fairly noticeable orange hints--a bit light for quad, I would think. A thin off-white head caps things off.
S: This is definitely plenty of sweetness to this beer. Dark candi sugars and caramel, along with dark fruits. Some yeast and oxidation, too.
T: Toffee, caramel, and candi sugar give this one sweetness along with some mixed dark fruits. Yeast and some mild spice notes, and chocolate oxidation.
M: The body is medium and so is the carbonation.
D: This one has held up fairly well, but it’s certainly not going to be getting any better. If for some reason you’re still holding on to this, drink up.

In short: A past due-date dark Belgian ale of some kind
How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed when over 3 year of age (ouch!). Sent to me by CaptainCougar. Thanks a lot Tom
The look: Ugly cloudy light brown (muddy water color) topped by an beige ring of foam
In long: Nose shows signs of oxidation. Taste of dried toffee, toasted nuts, dried dark fruits, light cardboard/oxidation, brown sugar, some refried beans, tobacco, maple. Overall rather dry. This beer did not feel like an Abt at all. A true Belgian quad can last three years, not this one. The beer is not bad, but it is on its way down. When I poured my bottle I got a lot of cardboard from the nose and taste. I let it breathe for 5 minutes and it was better. I’m a bit late to rate this one. But it’s better to be late than being eaten alive by alligators. Among other things.
