Bottle from Bu11zeye. Deep brown, mahogany when backlit. Smallish tan head, light lacing. Aroma is pretty sweet, chocolatey, pit fruit, moderate amounts of alcohol fumes, slight Iodine? and light oxidized notes. Medium to full bodied, carbonation is perhaps a bit high but not terribly so. Taste is very pleasant, chocolatey, raisins and plum, light to moderate alcohol. Warming in the belly. Really rather nice.

Nov 17, 2008 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye, shared with ilovedarkbeer. Pours with a small, light brown heead that turns into a ring and leaves good lacing. Very dark brown body. Aroma of scotch and booze (port), peet, carmaele and raisins. Taste is smokey with caramel, peet, but kind of watery in the finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Syrupy mouthfeel, light carbonation.

Nov 16, 2008 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye shared with BMan1113VR. Dark black brown head pour with a small tan head. Nose: wood, caramel, port, dates, scotch. Taste: caramel, chocolate, raisins, some carbonation and slightly warming. Highly drinkable, my only complaint is that the taste punches you in the mouth up front and disappears on the finish.

Oct 11, 2008 12oz bottle from bleeng methinks. in any case, thanks.... pours a dark and murky deep brown with a medium to thin light tan head..... aroma of smoke, tobacco (for the first time maybe!), chocolate, and smoke. very nice actually.... wow, def. exceeding expectations. this one had a bunch of flavor. smoke, tobacco, lightly bittering hops in the finish, chocolate, and more dark fruit as it warms. creamy/full mouthfeel complements the diversity of flavor. tasty? yes. it will also knock you on your ass.

Oct 5, 2008 5/17/08. It pours a dark ruby color with a light ruby colored head that fades fast to nothing. It smells really strongly of peaty malts, dark chocolate, dark fruits, and caramelized sugars and maybe a little bit of oxidation from the screw top bottle after 1+years. The taste is similar to the smell with lots of smokiness up front that fades to a sweet, malty, dark fruit flavor in the back. Plenty of coffee and chocolate evident here as well. The 9%+ alcohol is hardly noticeable at all. The mouthfeel is nice and thick and is expected of a wee heavy. This is a really nice brew but its definitely a sipper. I had this after a huge meal and it was a fitting end to the evening. I was glad to see a local brewery win a gold in the World Beer Cup for wee heavy/strong scotch ale but honestly I think I like the Alesmith Wee Heavy a bit more.

Sep 7, 2008 Pours dark brown with a thin off white head. Smells of roasted malt, some peat hints, spice. Tastes spicy and sweet with some rosey hints and a touch of roastiness on the finish.
