Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, citrus hops, light peach notes, and faint alcohol. It pours a slightly hazy copper with a soapy off-white head. The flavor starts with caramel and has a light fruitiness in the background. The finish has light-moderate citrus hops with some mild alcohol. Medium bodied with moderate soft carbonation.

12 oz. bottle from ericandersnavy- thanks again, Eric! Pours a hazy, muddy plum juice color with tons of floaters at the bottom and pretty much no head. Aroma of toasted malts, brown sugar, dried fruits, and wood chips. Flavor of caramel, brown sugar, dates, nuts, and dried grains. Only a hint of wet cardboard. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel that finishes boozy. Nice barley wine. Drinks like an old ale.

Bottle received as a trade extra - thanks BelgianBeerGal! Pours completely cloudy mahogany brown with a ton of huge floaties - oh oh! Small tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves token lacing. Not starting off so great. Then I get a whiff - hmmmmmmm! Aroma is dried fruit, caramel, toffee, some pine resin. Not getting the hoppiness described, probably because the aromatics have faded with age, but what is left is very appealing. Taste is about the same, quite sweet and sugary, but balanced by enough resinous bitterness that it all works. This is a tasty beer. I just wish I had some more of it lying around!
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 burg326 (2327) - Florida, USA - OCT 23, 2012
12 ounce bottle, poured an amber color, aromas of light pine, some caramel, alcohol, peat, light coco, and some honey, a ton of aromas. Flavors follow suit, the alcohol aroma was leading me to believe that this would be a huge bozzey taste, however it was mellow. All the flavors blended nicely together.

bottle thanks to my Austin trading buddy. Pours murky brown with a medium tan head that fades to a solid tan film that resides on the beer the length of the glass. Aroma is big aged hops, grapefruit, citrus and pine. You can tell this beer originally had a big hop presence but time has still done this beer well. Flavors of plum, caramel, toast, a little nutty with a spicy brown sugar and citrus hop bitterness in the finish. Alcohol is very well hidden.

Bottle thanks to Secret Santa 2010. Appearance: Opaque copper-brown with thick creamy head, impressive for a vintage beer. Aroma: Nice hoppy presence with decadent fudge malts with light sherry-like oxidation. Flavor: Bitter hops with caramel sweetness, pineapples. This is rich, bitter, full bodied, decadent and lots of alcohol. I like that, an intense and well balanced barley wine.

Bottle to Pint Glass
Second of the Divine series I was able to try. Had to trade for it. No a huge favorite of barely wines, even this baby. I have tried all the divines from #5 to #11 and this ranks towards the bottom for them. Still a really decent beer though.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 wedgie9 (1590) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 7, 2011
Tasted on 8/6/11 from a 12oz bottle obtained in a trade. Pours a muddy dark brown with a dark red tint and a thick beige head that slowly recedes to rocky lace, leaving lacing along the inside of the glass. The nose is full of intense caramel and maple malt along with some green hops, baking spices, and some lightly burnt brown sugar. The flavor is almost the same as the nose with the maple, caramel, and burnt brown sugar malt, along with the citrus and green hops, but the flavor is a fruitier than the nose with some underlying raisin. The body is full and oily with light carbonation and a long bitter burnt and caramel malt flavor. After about a minute, there is also an almost marzipan-like nutty flavor, showing the beer’s age with just a light hint of oxidation.
