Saint Arnold Fresh Hop Elissa IPA (2012)

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This year we had 350 lbs. of wet Cascade hops flown down to us the day they were picked and before they were dried so we could use them in a batch of Fresh Hop Elissa. We used our lauter tun as a giant hop back and ran the wort through these hops before knocking out to the fermenter.

Fresh Hop Elissa will be available on draft only and will be appearing around town where you normally find Elissa on tap. All of the Fresh Hop Elissa kegs have tap stickers attached to the kegs so the tap marker should say “Fresh Hop Elissa” if it is indeed the fresh hop batch. It will also be on tap at the brewery beginning Monday, October 1, 2012 until we run out.

Elissa IPA is a single hop beer using only Cascade hops. The fresh hops give a slightly grassier flavor to the beer. The difference in the flavors is subtle yet discernible. We replaced 67 lbs of our regular Cascade hops with the 350 lbs of wet hops in this 120 bbl batch.
