COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Brown Porter is a dark, silky medium bodied ale with rich chocolate malt notes. We used English malt and hops and our Saint Arnold yeast that came from a brewery in England. This beer pours a dark brown color with ruby/garnet highlights and an off white to light tan head. The aroma is predominantly chocolate. Overall, our Brown Porter is a very sessionable, medium bodied beer with lots of chocolate and roast flavor.

Originally rated on 4/5/14. Deep brown, almost black body, the head dosent retain well, leaving only spotty lace.Really nice aroma of sweet creame and coffe, with notes of bitter chocolate. Mouthfeel is thin but not bad for the style. malty flavors of chocolate, nuts and coffee dominating; there is also a toasted bread aspect as well; a touch of dark fruit flavor on the backside. Overall a nice idea, that turned out pretty good.

From my backlogg: RBESG 2014 in London, grand tasting. Black beer with a brownish head. Roasted caramell leather chocolate aroma. Roasted chocolate leather tar a bit smokey favour.

Deep brown pour with a thin light beige cap. Nice nose of earthy bittersweet chocolate and a bit of milky sugar and chocolate biscuit. Lovely flavor that’s a bit too carbonated but still nice--with a biscuit chocolate and earthy bittersweet roasted note. Sweet and dessert like overall with roasted cocoa and sweet nutty brown malts.

Great little extra from Theydon_Bois - Thanks! Pours dark brown with a beige head. The aroma has lots of chocolate notes, lightly roasted malts, sweet nuts and some caramel. The taste is sweet and slightly bitter with notes of lightly roasted malts, nuts, chocolate and some weak caramel.

Bottle, 35 cl. Pours dark reddish brown with a small, off white head. Aroma has lots of chocolate malts. Slight roasty, nuts and lots of malty aromas.. Taste is pretty boring with some roasted malts and a bit of chocolate. Not .. too exiting. Fine, but not particularly exiting.

Appearance: dark amber, reddish highlights when backlit, short bubbly tan head quickly vanishes, no lacing. Aroma: nose is nice--tootsie roll, candied nuts, a hint of molasses and brown sugar. Taste: cocoa, toasted hazelnuts, light brown sugar, hint of root beer. Finish: lingering, slightly toasty nut flavors and cola; palate was light and prickly. Notes: Hated the bottle. Dark blue printing on black paper--dang near illegible. Contents were far superior to the label. Didn’t feel much like a porter, but rather an exceptional brown ale. So, rating for the actual experience rather than adherence to the style. Bottle purchased at Buddy’s (drive-thru) Beer Barn in El Paso, Texas, in October 2014. See here that this is retired. If so, that’s an old bottle; this is not surprising given the provenance. It held up well either way.
