COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saint Arnold Icon Gold is a Bière de Saison that delivers a complex spicy nose with notes of brown sugar and plums. Developed by brewer Aaron Inkrott, Saint Arnold Icon Gold was inspired by traditional French and Belgian farmhouse style ales, including Bière de Noel, which translates to mean Christmas Beer. Saint Arnold Icon Gold’s taste starts with big spicy malt and alcohol, moving to fruity in the middle and then an earthy, spicy finish.

Bottle:   Pale amber, hazy, small frothy white head, little lacing.   Spicy nose, a little peppery, very doughy and yeasty.   Not as floral or barnish as other Saisons, but decent.   Really yeasty and doughy as it warms, almost too much.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Falls off slowly on the finish, lingering dough and yeastie bits with very faint spiciness.   Not floral or barnish, but instead yeasty and doughy.   Tiz okay for what it is.

Draft. Aroma is a spicy saison. Appearance is a dark bronze with some head. Taste is the saison yeast up front with a dry booze finish. Palate is a weird saison. Overall, good for a saison. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle from a locals trade with GreatDane1632. Almost no head or carbonation here. The beer is dark brown and semi clear. I smell darker fruit and some spice. A nice flavor makes a tasty holiday beer. Yeast, fruit, earth, spices. Some Dunkel notes of bread and banana. This is a sweet beer with brown sugar, molasses, toffee, and fairly big malts. There is a fizzy feel that is felt on the tip of the tongue. Alcohol is barely tasted but it seems to be larger than that.

Poured up a deep amber color with small off white head. Had bits of stuff floating around in it. Some looked like it might be yeast suggesting that it was bottle conditioned. Then there was a couple of larger chunks that not sure what to make of them. So looks are saying this is going to be nasty. Smell said otherwise. Aromas of spices and some brown suger made me think this could be better than it looks. Very interesting flavors, fruit, burgandy wine, sweet tarts, spices, too much going on to figure it all out. At first it is sweet but then becomes very tangy almost to the point of kids candy, then it finishes out with some bitterness and spice. While I have to give it unique, it is still not something I would go out of my way for.

Intetesting flavor profile. Definitely tastes like a biere de garde with saison funk. I like it. ABV suprised me.

Pours a deep yellow color with a lacy white head. Notes of clover, banana, yeast, malt, and cream of wheat. A little weak.
