Great oktoberfest. I am especially impressed with this beer compared to most of the others in the St. Arnold collection. Hoppy/yeasty initial impression, deep aber brown hue, wonderful hints of hops and strength as the beer progresses. Still maybe not quite up there with the best of the German ones, but its pretty good.

Pours a light amber. Malt and carmel on the nose. The sweetness is almost like brown sugar simple syrup, reminiscent of pecan pie with some pie crust quality to it. Slightly sweet, malty finish, not overly crisp. Definitely a good autumn beer.

Bottle at Tamler’s house (also at United Lounge at Houston airport.) Amber body with medium head. Nose is caramel, malts, toasty, sweet. Taste similar toasty of malts, caramle and brown sugar. Well-balanced.

Bottle at the United Club in the B terminal IAH. Pours a clear, copper color with a thin, white head. Sweet, malty aroma with a hint of brown sugar and caramel. Light, crisp taste. Strong malt presence. Decent brew. Could have more in the taste.

While it is no German Oktoberfest, it is a fantastic beer to look forward to every year. While in season, it is a staple in my fridge.

Rated based on notes taken 8 Oct 2012 -- Good Marzen. High on the Munich malt keeps this beer really sweet and delicious.
