johnnysmoke (36), Texas, USA Jul 4, 2008 Light copper; little head. Light-coloured malts nose, bakery-nose, not yeasty. Very much roasted malt in the taste, nearly peanut-like, rich, but a bit one-sided. Well-bodied, little burning aftertaste. A remarkable interpretation of the style. I’m surprised by this.
theisti (1180), Leawood, Kansas, USA Dec 4, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of Zinister. Pour is a hazed orange golden. Nice full one inch off white head. Aroma of caramel sweet malt, and some hay citrus bitterness. Full and fresh nose. Taste is the sweet caramel malt, with a nice toastiness to it. The grass is present, though mostly towards the finish. Nice clean taste. Palate is medium, yet very drinkable. Nice Oktoberfest. Sammy (3242), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 27, 2008 Pleasant malty aroma with some peach fruit. The fruit is in the initial taste, with a modest smoke. Not very drinkable, but it could depend on the night and the food. A bit light on mouthfeel.
miketd (415), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2008 Pour is a nice, ruby/copper with a big off white head. Aroma is malty sweet with some caramel. Also hints of earth and nuts or grain.
Flavor is heavy malt forward and sweet. A bit of roasty malt at the end. Fairly clean and medium dry.
This isn’t my favorite style, but not a bad drinker.
CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle thanks to BMan1113VR: Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet, toasty caramel malt and some grainy notes with a decent balance of noble hops. Body starts with good fullness and semi-sweet, crisp Munich malt well balanced with a clean bittering hop presence before a smooth bittersweet finish. Fairly true to style and very drinkable. Haslinger (567), Syracuse, New York, USA Oct 23, 2008 bottle thanks Zinister. Pours a nice orange. Some decent bread taste along with a bit of a hops aftertaste. Refreshing but not all that complex. A nice brew though. Would possibly purchase again.
