GAManiac (242), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours reddish copper with a short-lived off-white head. Sweet malts dominate the aroma with light grains and hops in the background. Malt dominates the taste as well with a good bit of fruit undertones, strawberries maybe. Definitely on the sweeter side of things. Highly carbonated with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. This is my first St. Arnold’s brew and I actually think it’s quite drinkable.
Bockyhorsey (1935), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 1, 2008 12oz bottle courtesy of zinister. After a strong dose of malt sweetness a caramel aroma emerged near the finish. Amber body with beige head. Sweet heavy filling malt flavor for the most part. Some sweet fruits near the finish with the caramel. Beer is a good dose of sweet malt and that lingers on the palate. MaltOMeal (252), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Jul 22, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a clear reddish-orangish-amber with a thin, off-white head. Nose is lagerish with caramel, malt and nuts. Taste is of roasty malt, spices and some nuts. Mouthfeel is medium with some carbonation. decent. bboeckl (113), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA Jun 2, 2008 Aroma is of caramel malt with hints of brandy. Taste is a strong sweet caramel and lots of peppery alcohol. Very dry, crisp mouthfeel. Tastes as if it may have been aged a bit in a barrel. Strong hop bitterness. Lacks complexity and depth of character. Drinkable. hopdog (4487), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 27, 2008 12oz bottle acquired in trade with bu11zeye (thanks!). Poured a medium and hazy copper color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of wheatiness, caramel, chocolate, and lightly nutty. Tastes of nuts, light chocolate, and caramel. Thinner body. jsquire (1848), St. Marys, Ohio, USA May 9, 2008 Clear amber color with a two finger off white head that audibly shrank to nothing. Sweet grain nose with some hair spray. Sweet beer with some pit fruit, caramel, and a toasted grain note. Not sure what a Heller bock is, but this is okay enough.
