The first release in our Moveable Yeast series, Weedwacker is the result of our pitching Lawnmower wort (wort is the unfermented beer) with Bavarian Hefeweizen yeast. Weedwacker will be available draft only. This is a study in how different yeasts have different effects on beers. Note: As the base beer for this beer is a Kolsch, this beer will remain in the Kolsch style.

Poured into a shitty hotel glass. White head and a hazy, yellow color. Aromas of banana, yeast, flaked wheat, whipped cream. Immediate flavors of banana, grass. Leaves a pleasantly sweet flavor in your mouth. This is a very interesting take on the kölsch style, and very well-done.

floral, grass, cooked vegetables, waterd down ,golden, minimal head, lightly bitter, light body, thin feel, average carbonation, soft carbonation, it was like a coors beer with a few adjustments,

Something about the lightly bitter taste, that turns sweet after the drink. Also, a slight, freshly cut lawn aroma. I love this refreshing, Bavarian hoppy Weedwacker. (Beware, every time I get this on draft, I hate it. I love it in a bottle though)

from notes: lots of smoke with pour. beer is golden yellow with a small head that does not stay around. the aroma was slightly skunky, wet grass, mild hops, overall not too pleasant. the taste is watery, maybe some grapefruit, grassy, citrus, not very good!

This draft brew from the brewery poured a medium sized head of foamy medium sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a softly carbonated slightly hazy dark yellow colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was hoppy malty yeasty and banana. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow malty aftertaste. The deep flavor contained notes of yeast banana hops and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

Bottle from secret Santa 2012 - blutt59. Pours cloudy pale golden color with white head. Aromas of wheat, light citrus, banana and yeast. Similar flavors. Light and crisp. Tastes like a Hefeweizen. Thanks Bob.

Better than the original Lawnmower. Aroma was not strong but malty and earthy. The palate was crisp. The color was golden and cloudy with a lot of tiny particulates. Flavor was malty and grassy with a hint of citrus, which lingered. Easy to drink.

bottle. sampled along with lawnmower. same appearance with a hazy gold and medium white head. sweet fruity, candy banana nose. bready, grape nuts flavors at first turning estery and banana-like in the finish. creamy mouthfeel and nearly full bodied.

obviously the banana notes are the big difference in the aroma. the lawnmower has more a sweet pale wort scent with hints honey and caramel. the WW has a creamy body where LM is more lighter, crisper. flavor is more honey-like in LM and, again, banana in WW. appearance is identical. its neat to see how the palate and body has changed between the two.

Received as an extra in a trade, thanks Brad! 12 oz. bottle poured into a Hefe glass. A: Pours a cloudy dark straw with a half finger white head that quickly recedes in a nice film ring. S: I pick up some light yeast, a little sweet fruit. Slight spice but the nose isn’t over powering and is a slight let down. T: Again with a light fruity yeast just like the nose and again it sort of lacks in real power and pop. There is a slight sweet bubblegum and clove spice at the backend. M: Medium bodied with a nice grained mouthfeel. Very refreshing and there are some lingering yeasty notes on the palate. O: This was a decent Hefe, but definitely not my favorite for the style. The flavor and nose profiles really lacked in this guy. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 08-02-2011
