COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first release in our Moveable Yeast series, Weedwacker is the result of our pitching Lawnmower wort (wort is the unfermented beer) with Bavarian Hefeweizen yeast. Weedwacker will be available draft only. This is a study in how different yeasts have different effects on beers. Note: As the base beer for this beer is a Kolsch, this beer will remain in the Kolsch style.

355mL thanks to blutt59. Pours a hazy straw to gold looking with witbier with a larger, bright white head. Good retention and big rings of lace. Nose is estery and mild banana- pretty hefeweizen yeast forward. Pretty intense butter in the nose. Taste is big carbonation, mild soap, decent butter heftiness, fresh dough. Not bad...a little buttery.

On tap at the Flying Saucer in downtown H-town baby... Pale yellow pour with a white head. Light and refreshing with citrus and German yeast flavors..

On draft at Avenue Pub, New Orleans. Yellow in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Aromas are of white bread dough, lemons, and a bit of clove. Similar in the mouth, with doughy and lemony overtones. A bit of spice and very faint green hop on the finish. Medium bodied with a dry finish. An above average session beer.

Fresh 12oz Fort Worth bottle. Pretty nice kolsch and seemed true to form. Only weird thing was the flavor took a little time to settle out and I swear it sometimes smelled like salami!

A: The pour is a pale golden straw color with a finger of white head. S: Seems to have a bit of corn to it as well as some pale malts. Not much in the way of hops, maybe a little floral hop aroma. Might actually have some rice, too. T: A very light flavor. Some sweet corn and rice flavors with a pale malt/bread flavor. As with the aroma, not much hop flavor. There is a little bit of bitterness and perhaps some floral hops. M: Light to medium in body with a medium carbonation. O: Pretty typical, mediocre blonde ale.

GABF 2011. Hazy pale straw with a volumes white head that recedes but stays a while. Nice grassy hop and clove wheat aroma. Taste is smooth an crisp with big wheat tones, some banana, mild herbal bitterness and sweet pale maltiness. Not shabby!

bottle... pours an ugly golden straw, not much of a head... smells iike a kolsch, a bit of grass, pils, and a little skunk... very thin beer, a bit of lemon watery with grass, easy to drink but so boring

Bottled. Poured clear, straw golden with a short, dense white head. The aroma picked up bready and grassy notes above all else, with orange rind and banana accents.. overall very earthy.. I enjoyed it. The flavor found bready notes and honey at the core.. peppery yeast, banana, and cloves around.. dry and peppery on the finish. Light-bodied and dry on the palate.. lots of influence from the hefe yeast.. tasty stuff.

Now this was one good ‘thin’ hefeweizen. I was expecting a bit more in the flavors (when comparing against other hefeweizens) but this one just didn’t hold up to those expectations. Now don’t get me wrong, it is a good brew, just not as robust as I wish it would have been. Still a good brew to kick around at the fish fry for sure. Quite light and very refreshing with a zingy citrusy aftertaste so it is a fine bet that this would pair up nicely with some grilled oysters on the half-shell or some spicy fish tacos!

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy pale yellow a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of banana and other fruity esters backed by sweet grains. Flavor starts with sweet bread and grains but has notes of banana and grass in the finish.
