Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 17, 2003 Hazy reddish-orange. Toasty aroma with deep fruit (peach, pomegranite, fig). Alcohol, dried fruits, toast. argo0 (6289), Washington DC, USA Nov 15, 2003 Small, quickly dissipating beige head atop a fairly clear red-brown body. Aroma is orange, alcohol, light peat. Taste is bland for the most part, mildly sweet, finishing light peat and alcohol. Medium body. Rastacouere (5418), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jul 25, 2006 Updated: Aug 3, 2006Now claims to be a belgian style beer, but pours clear orange, the white head recedes to a lasting cover. Light DMS (carrot?) offsets the otherwise spicy, yeasty/very doughy nose. Soft toffee notes pair along the nutmeg and cloves. Mouthfeel suffers from the filtration, losing the richness it could hold and making it feel fizzier than it is. The alcohol eventually appears in mouth, warming after each sip. Lesser tones of candied pear and apricot finish it all. Restrained sweetness throughout, but the malt extraction could use some work. JorisPPattyn (4642), Antwerpen, Belgium Aug 31, 2006 Thinnish white rim over amber-shot red beer, hazy. Strange, uninviting mix of coriander, soured beer, lactic acid and dandelion flower. Taste: the same. Sweet (caramelly), soured, and coriander. A few tons of the dreaded stuff, must be very Belgian! Maybe a bit lactic, but also a bit of vegetable acid - thin, green tomatoes? Bit of acid-thinning, alcohol is hidden, smooth all the same, and slowly, the real power asserts itself. Le Coriandre: la vraie gaffe Belge! Na zdrovnje, Igor, for the haul from Saint Jovite! MartinT (4458), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 7, 2002 Updated: Jun 6, 2008(Tap at the brewpub in 2008): The Chouffe yeast gives off lots of spiciness which fits well with the lightly caramelized...The mouthfeel is lean and very clean, letting a few hops go by in the finish...This is very drinkable for the style, yet does not have the wow factor which I associate with the style’s best beers...3.3/5

(Bottle in 2005): Gorgeous, metallic engraved label on a very nice 750ml...End of positivism...No head, thus no lacing, light oranges in a tornado of wet earth...Ashes in peaches, slight hop bitterness in the end...Not unpleasant, but by far the worst quality/price ratio I’ve ever had the misfortune of experiencing (13$ per bottle)...I fear that the bottle itself is worth a lot more than its contents...A light, simple, homebrewish Belgian Strong Ale...2.6/5
