A reddish brown ale with a very thin off white head. In aroma, a musty grainy malt, with light sour cherry notes. In mouth, a earthy malt with light cinnamon, sourish notes, a bit off, sweet nutty notes, earthy. This one is going off.

(Rating #2917)

Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and not much lacing. Aroma of rye malt with light residual sweetness is quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by rye malt with some light buckwheat notes and some balanced sweetness. Body is about average but has a creamy texture which is enjoyable with good carbonation. I must admit that this beer was better then anticipated.

It shows a bright reddish-brown colour. Thin beige head, medium retention. It has a great spices notes, some weizen beer yeast notes, bananas, clove, some nose are trully from the buckwheat grain, some black peppercorn has well, I love the smell. This beer is very spicy in the mouth, some black pepper, good mouthfeel, very drinkable the alcohol is not present despicte it’s 7,5% alc/vol.

Bottle - 341ml. Dark copper body with a decent off-white foamy head. Malty/hoppy aroma with fruity, brown sugar, and buckwheat hints. Its well balanced taste ends with a decent bittersweet finish. Well done.

341 ml bottle via Lubiere, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Cloudy deep mahogany with a smallish tan head. Aroma: Sweet with a good hit of esters and brown sugar, with some molasses, peppery with some aggressive rye bread crust, a bit fruity – berries and vague jammy notes, some grain/cereal notes, but not in a bad way (like many pale lagers), fairly dark and full, pleasant. Palate: Medium body, restrained effervescence for a fairly smooth overall impression. Flav.: Peppery and grainy, fruitier than the nose and the malts are more serious with deeper flavours and less of the playful esters and brown sugar, pepperiness comes through again, minerals, definite influences from the rye and buckwheat, I think; dry with minimal bitterness and a roasted cereal finish.

Interesting and a nice brew from a less-than-reputable brewer. I also think the dude on the front would make a good Halloween costume.

341 ml bottle purchased in a store on Duluth Street in Montreal, April 25, 2010. Mohagony red, medium head. Sweet buckwheat aroma, not much rye. Taste is dry rye, a bt sour, weak alcohol aftertaste. This is sad, not so flavorfull grain beer!

Pours dark reddish brown with a huge frothy off white head. Aroma is musty malt and straw rye with sour cherries. Taste is tart with cherry and spicy buckwheat malt. Really isn’t that very good. Had high expectations.

Bouteille 341 ml. 7.5%. Bonne.
