Liquide noir coiffé d’une mousse mocha semblable à celle d’un cola. Odeur de café instantané, de pain grillé avec des senteurs de poussières de gypse. Un goût âcre qui fait froncer les sourcils à la première gorgée, qui laisse une impression aigre en bouche et qui s’accroche un peu partout. (189-160312)

341 ml bottle. Pours a nice black with a dark orange tint and a dark beige head. Smells like coffee and ash. Tastes like sweet chocolate, molasses, whipped cream with a hoppy, ashy and coffeeish finish. Body is very watery. Not the best dry stout, but not horrible either.

Bottle. Moderate toasted, burnt and dark bitter chocolate for the malt, light to moderate resin for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with tar, cola and a faint hint of puke in the background. Head is average size, fizzy, light brown with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor is moderately to heavily acidic to start, then the long unpleasant finish is moderately acidic and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is medium and creamy which is both hidden by the fizzy carbonation. It finishes very dry, followed by a bunch of belches.

Bottle. Appearance: Nice black pour with decent moka head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, caramel and wet grass. Flavor: Bitterness from roasted grain along with some caramel. Unfortunately, the finish is slightly sour and astringent. Palate: Low carbonation and light bodied. Still drinkable and moderatly enjoyable but there is obvious flaws.

Black colour with small to average size light tan head. Roasted malt, sweet chocolate, dry hops, mild coffee and chocolate mousse in aroma. Roasted malt, chocolate, mild coffee and hoppy dryness in flavour. Fizzy. Actually too fizzy for a Stout. It’s like a Stout Spritzer. Fizzyness makes the flavour fade away.

Draft. Pours a black body with a short lived tan head. Bittersweet stout. Licorice and light chocolate malts. A mild roast y character that finishes a bit bitter with brunt malt tones and coffee bitterness. Not bad.

Tap at Mondial 2010. Pours a deep brown nearing black with an ok lasting head. Aroma is roasty, nutty, dusty chocolate, some extract oil from chocolate, dark chocolate, leather, licorice, earth and burnt toast. Flavor is light coffee grinds, bitter light astringent some grass, burnt malts, some dark chocolate, leather and wet paper oxidation in the end with slight salty soy- finishes a bit dry, but not completely.

Pours black with a huge bubbly caramel colored head. Ha you were right! A not unpromising aroma of cocoa and coffee, dark fruit. Taste is light and fizzy with some sweetness, and some plasticky chemicals on the end. But only at first. It smooths out and becomes a very round, light, quaffable semi-stout that shows fruit, cocoa, a touch roast, some very light charcoal. Yeah it’s OK. I realize Montreal women are hot so there’s more to do in Que, and in such event this would be a perfectly OK barside quaffer. Though it’s fool’s Gold.

Pours black with a huge bubbly caramel colored head. Aroma is mostly of roasted barley with a hint of coffee and possibly corn? The taste is very different but includes notes of barley, chocolate and dry coffee. Not as watery as guinness but not as well balanced. So-so dry stout.
