21st November 2013
Hazy pale gold beer, big white head. Nice sourish rhubarb nose. Palate is light and crispy. Starts with a mildly tart rhubarb and then pine and orange hops kick in. Little marmalade. Touch of lactose before the light crispy finish. Unusual and tasty.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.33 l swing top bottle. Foggy straw yellow body. Brief big-bubbled white top. Initial aroma of of stale cheesy hops and doughy yeast, offset by a whiff of fruity acidity. Hard to pin-point the rhubarb. Medium full. Slick mouthfeel. Taste is randomly fruity-acidic with a light astringent touch. Semi-dry, fairly clean malt base. Nice tones of flowers and refined fruity sweetness in the finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hazyish orangey gold with a fizzy, lacy, sticky, head that settles to a thin ring. Smells of a fruit punch with papaya, and mango but still lots of grapefruit citrus, and soft yeast. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. Sweet at first with lots of fruitiness but also a sourness like pineapple and orange peel. Tropical beer with hops and a bitter fruity finish. Refreshing and different in a great way.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (Amundsen, Oslo). Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of papaya, mango. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Fun beer aromatically, tropical fruit juice plus hops...kinda tart in a way that’s not too enjoyable. Neat but basically a novelty beer.

Draught@HBF. Rubber, nettles, citrus in the nose. Light to medium bodied. Citric acid, hay and fruits in the tartish flavor. Not very typical Nøgne Ø flavors had to say. Lingering citrus.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Blonde pale assez effervescente, col léger et persistant. Au nez, malt et rhubarbe. En bouche, amertume et acidité dominent, la rhubarbe n’est pas tellement présente. Agréable et rafraichissante.

Bottle, BBE 23/11/14. Pours a orangey yellow with a decent-sized, white head. Aroma is rhubarb, gooseberry, papaya, black currant. Taste is fairly dry with a lot of the same as the aroma: Rhubarb, gooseberry and papaya. Some grapefruit and citrus. A bit of caramel on the finish as well as grapefruit peel. Stiff with good carbonation. Definitely good.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer was a pleasant surprise - which is not to say that it was great, but rather a unique and fun beer. Very thin appearance and whiff of booze made it seem like something in the Duvel family. Overall impression is of a Belgian to which some west coast hops have been added (plus the Rhub’ from the name). Not hoppy to the extent you would expect from an IPA, but a nice light clean and refreshing experience.
