3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 75cl. A clear, dark amber colored beer topped by a dense, light beige head of finger-thick size. Fruity and candy-ish aroma with some notes of toffee. Sweet and fruity flavor with some bitterness and a faint caramel touch. Warming, full-bodied and nicely carbonated. A decent beer, not very Christmas-ish in my book, and lacking on complexity. 110826

Bottled BBE 03/2010, 75cl flip-top.
Clear amber color, no head. Spicey, candy-watermelon-menthol aroma, also slightly cellary. Fizzy carbonation. Crystal sugary malty flavor with light spices and fruity notes. Touch of clove. Typical biere de garde hard mouthfeel and quick finish. These usually taste more like a lager than an ale and this is no exception.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared in Belgium - picked up at a Carrefour. Pours clear amber with a big, billowing yellowy off-white head. The nose holds lots of bready malts, caramel and toasted sugars. Medium sweet flavor with sugary, lightly toasted malts, hints of cereal and caramel; but thankfully the sweetness is never excessive. Medium to full in body with average carbonation. Lightly dried caramel in the finish with further toasty, rich bread. A very nice biere de garde. Pretty well balanced and drinkable.
