Bottle. Pours a clear and copper beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt with caramel. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness and overall a good average beer.

750 swing-top. Amber color. Fizzy malt body. Aroma of sugary caramel. Flavor of cardboard and caramel.

Bottle @ Home. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Aroma of malt, belgian yeast, caramel, oranges. Taste is malt, caramel, brown sugar, wood, nuts, notes of dark fruit. Medium body, lively carbonation. 091211

Bottle from Metro. Amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, caramel, spice and fruit.

Pours clear bright mahogany into a trappist glass. Off-white head quickly recedes to nothing. Hot toasted caramel and roasted nut aromas. Slick and sweet from front to back with a lasting alcohol burn.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, on 2008-12-24) Deep amber. Almost clear. Medium sized white head. Malts and hint of dried plum in nose. Full bodied palate with quite a lot of carbonation. Malts, dried plum, bitterness, syrup, sweetness. Malts and light bitterness in aftertaste.

Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Amber appearance. Smells of amber malts and light honey. Sharp taste that fades very quickly. Very malty flavor. Some honey sweetness with gentle fruit. Finishes easy with a tight buttery sweetness.

750ml bottle split with Anndiesel. Unfiltered burgundy brown. I really enjoy the subtle, delicate malt nuances of a French Bierre de Garde, and it is always a pleasure to try another. This one leans into Belgian Christmas Ale/WInter Warmer territory, with luscious amber malt tones, and some candied fruitcake flavors. Overall displays a great balance. A touch of bitter balancing bitterness up front leads toasty, clean malt finish, touches of raisin and cherry. Right on, a great Christmas beer.

Pours hazy orange / amber with a small off-white head. The aroma has the biere de garde maltiness, but is considerably sweeter with an almost candy sugar like presence.& light nuttiness. Medium body that has biting carbonation. The taste is drier than the aroma with a papery aspect interwoven with the aroma traits along with some lemony sourness. The finish has a hint of peach. Okay beer.

Rich toffee nose, with golden raisins, ripe plums and just a touch of herbal hops. Beautiful, masterful display of malt. Taste is lightly sweet, just a touch of bitterness, herbal/floral hops, light caramel, bread and cracker, raisins, light pepper and dusty yeast. Tiny bit of roast on the finish. Well conditioned, gentle carbonation; soft silky body. Lovely stuff.
