3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 FatPhil (7496) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAY 1, 2013
Tap (HBF2013, Saturday)
Rich roast aroma, a bit of soy, maybe. Dark red to brown, keggy tan head. Also some alcohol and solvents in the aroma. That carries in in the mouth too. Body’s almost watery, but with OK carbonation. Pretty dull brune, there’s no fullness. Probably a victim of being in keg, a bottle might be better.

Bottle, 75cl. A clear-looking brown beer topped by a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma has something chili-like, but is mostly caramel and dried fruits. Some grassy hints chime in. There’s something chili-like in the flavor too, adding a little burn in the throat. Quite bitter in the finish, where there’s also a pleasant licorice touch, with roasted malts, caramel and dried fruits initially. A sort of weird one, at least unusual, but it’s both tasteful and pleasant. 121109
