COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A true amber beer from Nord. It also respects the conditions of Saveurs en or. Its slightly roasty taste is obtained using torrefied malts.

Had at an ESBLS tasting. An amber pour with a thin head. The nose was of over ripe fruit and malt. Light fruit, apple butter, and light spices. A theme of apples ran throughout and that gave the beer a bit of an edge. Somewhat tart and slightly bitter. Not overly flavorful but nicely complex.

Tap at Churchkey, courtesy of Jason - thanks! Dark amber color, medium off white head. Lots of malt, some dark fruits, prunes, raisins spice. Nice stuff.

Medium offwhite head. Hazy amber body with carbonation. Fruity floral herbal aroma with cardamom, peach, and coriander notes. Dry-sweet yeasty fruity peachy taste with mealy cardamom notes. Light body. Mild, soft mouthfeel with faint oily butter. Dryish herbal honeyish fruity aftertaste with coriander and pepper notes. Very nice and highly drinkable. (0.75l bottle, wine monopoly Vika, Oslo.)

bottle. clear amber, quite small white head. grassy, slightly fruity , caramelly slightly malty aroma, reminds me clearly of french biere de garde. flavor is caramelly, malty, sort of fruit peely bitter, and alc. a little fruits, and some metal. Alc. seems to be a bit too high, given the other flavors are quite mild.

Aged bottle, don’t know the age though. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a frothy yellowish head. Aroma is of yeasty funk, sour notes some dark fruit like prunes and dates, slight alcohol and maybe some vinegar. Flavor is a bit like a brown ale mixed with belgian notes. I get yeasty funk again, fruity notes dried dark fruit like prunes, caramel and some bronw sugar and a sour note. Body is medium with a velvety mouthfeel. Overall a pretty good Biére de Garde but not the best one i have had.

Bottle, 75cl. It’s a nice-looking amber beer, clear at first, but with some clouds when getting closer to the bottom of the bottle. A quite lively carbonation leaves a two-finger, dense, beige head. Some lacings occur. The aroma is dominated by mixed dried fruits, apricots, prunes and dates, with some underlying cellar, white sugar, fresh fruits and a whiff of alcohol. It’s full-bodied, smooth and a bit too effervescent. Slightly warming too, especially in the finish, which is also sweet, fruity and with some toffee. The flavor is maybe a bit too sweet and sugary, and that drowns the complexity and layers found in the aroma. Sugary dried and fresh fruits might be a description to sum up the flavor experience. Add some boozy alcohol to that picture. Overall, a decent beer indeed, but I wish it was a bit less sweet and alcoholic. One more thing, the label doesn’t mention any sugar added, but gluten! Strange! Well, I had no problems finising the bottle, neither this time nor the last time I had one. 101001

Big corked bottle from bestillingsutvalget, Vinmonopolet. A mostly lasting yellow-blond dense head over a clear deep golden-brown colored body. Nice smell of fruity yeast and sweet toasted malts. A scent of toffee and burnt sugar. Sweet malt flavor, yet fairly clean and fresh-tasting. Notes of tinned fruits, fresh yeast and toffee. Subtle hops, vague spices. Quite full with a juicy mouthfeel. A pretty good one, and probably better with less sweetness.

Bottle, bought @ Vinspecialisten, Kolding Storcenter.
Hazy orange amber with a small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, some caramel, lots of red apples. High carbonation, fine creamy and light dry mouthfeel. Flavour is mild, some maltiness, light frutiy. Some bitterness in the finish, light herbal and a touch citric. Fair, lingering malty aftertaste.

750 c&c from Berkeley Bowl West. Pours orangey amber with a 3 finger foamy beige head. Strange aroma - malt and something suggesting diacetyl. Medium body with strong carbonation. Flavor is heavily roast malt with no trace of diacetyl, and a fairly bitter aspect. "for those who eat the taste of mystery"? In the end it’s fairly malty and smooth, but there’s enough hop to make it balanced. Suggestive of an "imperial" amber.
