It’s a bit too sweet for my taste, but I clearly recognize this as a remarkable blonde. Pours with a think resilient white head and a golden body. Give it a whiff and you’ll likely find it florally and fruity, with somewhat of a grassy nose. It’s one of the sweeter ales I’ve tried recently and, after drinking half of the 75cl bottle, I grew somewhat averse its sweetness. The citrus and honey flavors seem to dominate the taste. For me, the taste is saved by a distinctly bitter finish.

Bottle 33cl. A clear golden beer with good head and low carbonation. Nose is on resin and diacetyl like. Aroma is sweet, with a fruity yeast, well hoped with grassy and spicy aroma. Dry finish with long aftertaste a bit honey like with a nice bitterness.

Bottle from Carrefour, Citi Europe, Calais, France consumed 15.01.11 Pours gold with reasonable clarity and a with a white head. Big on maltiness, fruity but a fairly non-descript beer otherwise, I’ve had this whole bottle to myself (750 ml) and whilst it was absolutely fine it was also totally unremarkable to the point that I took precious few details down. Enjoyed at an ESBLS tasting. Tasted immediately after this brewer’s Hildegarde Ambree. The two were quite different beers. This was much lighter in hue looking like a blonde. Some nice spicy pepper. Soft grain, malt and that white pepper. A blonde with a spicy attitude, very nice.

houblon choiffe esque nose, more hopped with green citrus, light pepper. Flavor is more carbonation, yeast, banana, light celery, again very plant like. Short, dry hop finish. Too overhopped, the softness of a BdG is lost and the body thus becomes heavy.

Pale yellow pour with a white head. Cereal aroma with light nutty notes. Very heavy cereal flavor with lots of honey. Sweet and syrupy. A bit heavy for me.

Bottle from City Beer. Pours cloudy golden with a modest off-white head and a fruit and yeast aroma. There is a decent caramel malt flavor with a dry slightly bitter finish. It’s a bit watery, but has sufficient flavor to make it interesting.

Bottle from fish and beer, copenhagen. clear orange, smooth white head. "belgian blonde" like aroma, lot less grass and hay than most other french biere de garde i’ve had. fresh, slightly spicy flowery aroma, malts, nice. flavor is surprisingly sweet, exotic fruity and not really your typical "belgian blonde". Nor does it taste like any of the biere de garde i’ve had. Flavor is exotic fruity, yellow fruity, flowery from hops, lots of sweet malts balance, ends dry, bitter and slightly bittersweet from the fruity notes. Alc. level works well with the beer.

Tap at BT. Pours a nice clear bright blonde with a thinning white head. Aroma is big toasty malts, warm bread, biscuit, and veyr light grass with some touch of warming doughy yeast with a whisp of phenolics. Flavor is even more toasty, bready and biscuity- very fresh pils malt, very smooth rounded malts accentuated by a clean yet distinct yeast profile and a fairly dry finish. Seemed very fresh, and also seemed like the malts were fairly delicate and could turn at any minute to a sweet cidery oxidized mess. Great drinking now though.
