2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
750ml bottle (Alko Arkadia, Helsinki)
Flat aroma, mashy. Apart from a bit of sugar providing smoothness, this is almost thin in its palate, the carbonation is quite high. Caramelliness is noticeable in the taste. Very bready too, toasty. Initially quite metallic, coppery, from the bittering hops. In some ways a quite unsatisfying. I do like the sweet breadiness, and also the bitter bite, but deep down this is flawed, and has many negative aspects, the copperiness builds up as it warms. Hint of mushroom. I have a strange dichotomy - would I rather drink this or the 4.7% neuschwansteiner weissbeer earlier. At one point I think I prefered this, but later I think I prefer the wheatbeer later.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled, 750ml cork & cage from Carrefour, Coquelles, France. Amber to copper, fizzed head. Initial interest of sweet caramel malt and a vague fruitiness, some vanilla perhaps, but this doesn’t last and it becomes a big bottle of largely nothingness. Heavy going in the end, more a beer to share between 20 different people.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled 750ml (Arkadia, BB 08/2013)
Clear deep copper color, steady off-white head. Nose has metal, light caramel and some grass. Light to medium bodied. Crisp carbonation. Quite weak palate. Clean, a bit ryeish malty flavor with typical Biere de Garde caramel notes and metal. Oily finish with light alcohol and grassy hoppyness. Uninteresting "drinking beer", but probably works quite well with food.
