33cl Bottle, Arlon, Belgium. The aroma is not extremely intense, something I was expecting with the 5 hops labeled on the bottle. It is focused on pineapple and grapefruit. Unfortunately some oxydized notes are present. Not what I was expecting. The appearance is a nice light orange colour, with a slight haze in it, a nice retaining head and some pleasant carbonation. Altogether : nice ! Though the head start is fruity, bitterness comes in far too early for my palate. All the delicate essences that the hops could give are not distinguisable. The simple feeling I have with this beer is the idea that it should taste like a belgian beer with the idea of an IPA or a highly hopped beer. There is no explicit balance with this beer. It is of quality but definitly not to my taste.

Bottled 15cl sample. The aroma is quite spicy and has clove, some ginger, little citrus, some grass. Hazy, golden coloured beer with an off-white, thin head. The taste is light bitter and quite spicy. Up flavoured Belgian blonde. Ugly label.

Bottle 33cl kindly shared by Daniel. A copper beer with medium head. Nose is floral and on anise. Aroma is on sweet caramel, candy sugar, medicinal touch, medium hoppy, grassy.

Dry-hopped amber with 5 hop varieties. Off-white, stable head, orange blonde colour with amber hue, clear but cloudy after adding the deposit. Strong aroma of pineapple, melon, walnuts, cloves, honey, vanilla, coriander, grapefruit, iron, ginger, some oxidation in the tasted sample. Fruity taste, citrussy, restrained sweetness, caramel, bitter honey, floral aromatic hops setting in from the middle, reinforced by more deep and resinous, citrussy, explicitly bitter, peppery hops in the finish, which, contrary to my expectations, does not last very long and even feels a bit thin. I’m afraid my sample had its best time behind it and the hops were already partially gone, considering the oxidized aroma and the thin finish where some of the original hops seem to be missing. Or it is a rather unbalanced beer to begin with.

0.33L bottle. Pours a golden orange with a rocky white head. Relatively mild aroma, some orange citrus, alcohol, bubblegum and burnt rubber. Initial flavor pretty mellow, just a bit a bit malty. Middle is amazingly non-existant. It’s like the initial flavor is actually completely negated, leaving nothing there, which is a weird experience. This then leads to a long, bitter and resiny hop linger with some sour notes and alcohol. Medium to light body with lively carbonation and a thin mouthfeel. Overall, hops dominate (it has 5 different types), but this isn’t well-balanced at all, leading to a beer that primarily tastes bitter.

Trappist1 (642) - Diest, BELGIUM - MAR 12, 2014
Very dark golden, frothy white head. nose: citrus, lemon, hops. is the dry-hopping causing somewhat a dishwashing effect?? taste: bitter hops, high carbonation, bitter, light body. bit overwhelmed, too much of the good.
