50ml can in Vedène. Clear blond colored beer with small white head and only few carbonation. Herby granny and spiced aroma. Medium sparkling palate. Finish is herby sweet ending sweet.

Can (I think) from Papantoniou, Pissouri, Cyprus. Bright gold haloed half-arsedly with white. Nose of pine needles and envelopes. Better taste with a lowlands squeeze of wine gum sherbet hop, pine traces, light spoiling glue but no paper, decent clean bitterness to finish. Peanut and citronella. Better than acceptable.

Birretta molto pale e poco ale che non lascia niente al bevitore che erroneamente vi incappa. L’ho trovata e bevuta in lattina, non so se è ancora peggio della bottiglia ma eviterò volentieri di verificare.

Can. Pale yellow with small white foamy head that dissipates fast, yeast aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish taste, abrupt finish. Another generic lager.

Canned 0.50L. Pale clear yellow color, modest head of short resistant and poor bubbly aspect. Simpel grains and dried grass aroma. Soft prickly mouth with modest bitterish palate and metallic final.

500 ml can at abv 5.0% bought at the 759 Store in Sheung Shui Centre.

Non-piss golden yellow colour; One quarter finger head and soapy white foam which last for about 40 seconds; Minimal lacing with active hard carbonation; Pungent smell of malt, with strong corn, syrup, caramel, light bread, unknown chemical, very light lemon and light grass; Light sweet taste of thin malt, with light wet cardboard, light metallic, corn, grains, syrup, light lemon and very light grass; Light body, thin with slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is somewhat thicker and maltier and less grainy than most macro Pales, but with some hint of band aids (not too offensive), slightly papery but otherwise not much sweetness and clean; Hoppiness is very low lemon and fake grass in nose and taste. Close to zero bitterness, not much of a finish; Slightly dry after taste, very easy but a bit chemical to mouth.

Comment: By all means a supermarket cheapo macro, this is a lot better than the same brand’s Blonder Bräu Bière Blonde De Luxe, at least with a lot less oxidation or off tastes. Still, it’s corny as usual, cheap fake bitterness, and a bit chemical-ish to be likeable in the context of macro Pales. Skip it.

On 13th Nov 2013 I had a little lager/pilsner tasting session with the wife: two French, a UK brewed Budweiser and two other ’craft’ UK lagers. This green dumpy 25cl bottle was the second one. Poured into a Veltins badged stemmed tulip it looked a bit pale: pale golden that is, clear and clean with a small fading white head. More hop than malt in a weak nose and taste: some grain and grass notes but a really bland effort. Cheap supermarket brew and it showed, I preferred it’s weak 2.8% ABV brother I had before this: only just better than the UK brewed Bud (which was next).

On tap in Antibes. Glowing gold, lively carbonation. Nothing wrong with the looks. Soft and round. Very like the market leade. When consumed in big gulps on a hot day, there is a slight hoppy bite.

Purchased from a Kiwi Mart, Phnom Penh. Kind of sad when this is the best beer of a tasting night. Pours straw, nose of hay and light, light malt, flavour is very light, with definite hops. Easy to drink. As the style should be.

Can from pizza delivery.
