50 cl can at 5%. Sbutitled Biere blonde finement brassee. Golden color with a large frothy white head. Grainy, papery aroma. Thin bodied with sharpish carbonation. Flavor is grain and very little hop. It washes food down.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
On 13th Nov 2013 I had a little lager/pilsner tasting session with the wife: two French, a UK brewed Budweiser and two other ’craft’ UK lagers. This green dumpy 25cl bottle was the second one.
Poured into a Veltins badged stemmed tulip it looked a bit pale: pale golden that is, clear and clean with a small fading white head.
More hop than malt in a weak nose and taste: some grain and grass notes but a really bland effort. Cheap supermarket brew and it showed, I preferred it’s weak 2.8% ABV brother I had before this: only just better than the UK brewed Bud (which was next).

1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
500 ml can at abv 5.0% bought at the 759 Store in Sheung Shui Centre.
Non-piss golden yellow colour; One quarter finger head and soapy white foam which last for about 40 seconds; Minimal lacing with active hard carbonation; Pungent smell of malt, with strong corn, syrup, caramel, light bread, unknown chemical, very light lemon and light grass; Light sweet taste of thin malt, with light wet cardboard, light metallic, corn, grains, syrup, light lemon and very light grass; Light body, thin with slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is somewhat thicker and maltier and less grainy than most macro Pales, but with some hint of band aids (not too offensive), slightly papery but otherwise not much sweetness and clean; Hoppiness is very low lemon and fake grass in nose and taste. Close to zero bitterness, not much of a finish; Slightly dry after taste, very easy but a bit chemical to mouth.
Comment: By all means a supermarket cheapo macro, this is a lot better than the same brand’s Blonder Bräu Bière Blonde De Luxe, at least with a lot less oxidation or off tastes. Still, it’s corny as usual, cheap fake bitterness, and a bit chemical-ish to be likeable in the context of macro Pales. Skip it.
