When a beer says "biere d’abbay" but states on the back that it is brewed "under license of an abbey", states no name of a brewery and the customer service directs towards a large supermarket chain, it is time to be suspicious. This brew however is actually quite nice. I drank it straight from the can, but noticed the delicate aroma of candy sugar with some licorice and a hint of roasted malts and caramel. The color seems to be coppery to golden and the flavor is sweet and slightly sour. Somewhat reminding me of some amber colored biere de gardes I’ve had here in France. It’s nothing special, but a lot better than the can made me presume.

Bottled. A golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and a bit metal. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and a bit of metal, leading to a bitter finish.

Boks 0,5l fra Spar-butikk, Nice. Drukket 12 Okt 12. Delt med blomsterpotta. Lys gylden med et ok tett skum som varer noen minutter. Legger seg lagvis på glasset. Søt, fruktig aroma med litt malt. Smaken er mørk frukt. Lite annet. Veldig søtt helhetsinntrykk.
