COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lectio Divina is a cross between an abbey double and a saison. Open fermentation with a saison strain and a dose of wild yeast at bottling add to the complexity.

Bottle shared by EDA. Very nice label had perhaps more excited for the beer than I should’ve been. Mild hops in the aroma, bread, a touch of molasses. Lemon, rye bread, belgian yeasts taste... very melloe, not much going on, and exceptionally thin. I kept smelling this and tasting this trying to get more out of it but no matter how hard I dug I couldn’t find anything. It’s not that it was one-dimensional, more than I just couldn’t really find anything. There were also no discernible flaws, just a lack of character.

Courtesy of Dragonstout. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Reminded me more of a Quad then a Strong Ale. Very sweet. Hints of caramel, candied sugar, molasses, dark fruits, spices. Finished sweet and carbonation danced on my tongue. Loved every sip of this beer.

750ml bottle courtesy of Dragonstout. Pours copper with a white head. Smells of cloves, bananas, citrus, caramel, molasses and spice. Tastes of spice, dry malt, caramel, some residual sugar. Well balanced and mellow with a clove like finish. Nice!

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2007 750 ml bottle courtesy of SoLan. Thanks bro!! Much anticipation upon opening, as I loved the Saison Athene by this brewery. Pours an appealing honey-orange body underneath a small white rim that disappears quickly. Nose qualities are similar to a saison: honey, citrus, and a subtle yeast skunkiness. Mouth flavors are almost subtler than the nose with similar notes of honey, estery spices, pear, and apple cider. Soft/medium carbonation, medium body. Extremely drinkable; no trace of the 8% ABV in the palate or character. A great beer.

Bottle from Beerlando. Mostly clear amber with a small beige head. The nose is lightly sweet, vinous and floral with caramel and golden raisins. Flavor is light sweet with cotton candy, toffee, raisins and herbal hops. Medium body is very soft with very light carbonation. Just a bit more attenuation and higher carbonation and this would be outstanding.

Mangino (1027) - Mississippi, USA - OCT 18, 2007
Bottle from SoLan- Slightly hazy bronze/copper color. Almost no head. Nose is apple ciderish, some dark fruit notes mix with yeasty esters. Drinking this suprises, Belgian style from Florida? Flavor actually hits most of the Belgian profile, the esters and sweet darker flavors are there and meld well together. Carbonation is just slightly lower than I’d like. Finishes with vanilla and hints of spice.

Pours a cloudy amberish orange color with a thinning white head.Lots of fruit and honey on the nose. dark fruit, candy sugar and some spiciness.a nice balance between them all.A slight sweet finish to top it off.

acertain (249) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 15, 2007
Pours a hazy copper orange with a tiny white head that doesn’t cover the surface of the beer. The aroma is of apple cider more than anything else, with hints of banana and other yeasty smells underneath. In the mouth, it’s moderately carbonated and neither thin nor thick. As sweet as the aroma is, the flavor is relatively dry (relative to the aroma, anyway). It tastes more like a cider or white wine than a beer to me, but it’s interesting.

Ibrew2or3 (6523) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - OCT 15, 2007
Pours a hazy dull orange with thin white head. The aroma has a nice fruitiness with apples, grapes and pears followed by mild spiciness, yeast, candi sugar and a faint note of beat sugar. The flavor starts with an initial wave (tiny wave) of malt sweetness that quickly becomes over taken by red grapes, sweet red delicious apples, pears and beats. There’s also hints of candi sugar, spices and some faint yeastiness. Very nice.

3fourths (7799) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 15, 2007
750ml. Murky gold and amber colored body with a small and thin white head. Heavy apple and honey nose, with some spiced bread and cinnamon notes as well. Sweet and sticky apple cider malt flavor up front, with a strange plastic and resinous malt syrup flavor throughout. Finishes sweet and chewy, with a moderately strong yeast presence - honey, banana, fruit, some soggy bread, etc. Unique, but not fantastic.
