COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lectio Divina is a cross between an abbey double and a saison. Open fermentation with a saison strain and a dose of wild yeast at bottling add to the complexity.

Really more like an apple cider than a Belgian Strong ale. The taste is of crisp apples, light spices and malts. The hops are very floral. Quite a treat.

The aroma is cider like with yeast, fruit, flowers, spice, and corn malt. The appearance is hazy amber. The flavor is like the aroma and light. The palate is thin but OK. I like it.

Nice color, not overly carbonated like many American beers tend to be. Cork fought to the end, but once started came out with a large pop. At 8%, it won’t be a lunch beer, but we enjoyed it with a plate of fruit and cheese for supper. Looking forward to the second brewing.

Thanks go to hopscotch for the bottle! After almost needing the jaws of life to extract the cork, this poured hazy coppery-orange with not much head sticking around. The aroma picked up sweet fruits and candi sugar.. softer with a bit of an orange twist to it. The flavor had sweet candi sugar, darker fruits, and orange zesty accents with dry, bready and spicy yeast notes and some alcohol warmth tailing off the sides.. felt just a tad empty at times, but otherwise very tasty. About medium-bodied with very good balance between the spicy yeast, sweet fruits, and alcohol warmth. Really well-made beer.

Pours a hazy copper orange with a thin-lacing ring of white head. Aroma of sweet doughy yeast and Belgian malt with a touch of ginger. Starts fairly full and malty sweet with a nice yeasty complexity and some mild spice for balance. A nice and fairly authentic Belgian strong ale.

This lacks the amazing aroma of the other Saint Somewhere, but there’s a little more beer to it. A bit of green apple in the finish. Not as good as the other one.

The label of my "Lectio Divina" has the words "Amber Ale" in place of "Dark" on the banner. Not sure if this is the same beer. Anyway, this beer doesn’t cut it as a Belgian Ale for me. There is a lot of sweetness here, but no bite, and the beer is nearly flat as well. A sticky, bleh afteraste is also unpleasant.

From 750 ml bottle : Pours a hazy amber/orange color with a foamy white head that leaves spotty lacing around the glass. Nose of tropical fruits, peach, apple sauce, yeast, bread dough. Taste is fruity sweet. Palate has some tart to it, and again like the Saison, could use some more carbonation in my opinion. Still very good brew from FL.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2008 Bomber tasted at Saarlander’s SoCal tasting with saarlander, cquiroga, dirty_martini & kittiesandbeer, JohnC and others. Cloudy yellow amber color. Small bubble head. Nice yeasty aroma with corriander I believe. A nice small amount of sour. Easy to drink.7,4,7,4,16:3.8 Rerate: 3/30/08: Fordest tasting: 7,3,7,3,15:3.5
