2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at Churchkey for the Craft Brewers Conference. Poured a clear amber color with a slightly off-white head. Aroma smells like wet socks. Not a fan - flavor was marginally better, some funk notes herbal notes, yeast. Not a huge fan of this particular one.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A hazed reddish dark amber with a thick frothy mocha head, gusher. In aroma, a sour malt with cherries, brett, dark fruits, fruit sourness, OK. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with fruity notes, cherries, sour yet still good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draft at The Brass Tap, poured a cloudy amberish color with aromas of light funk, sweetness, light pepper, and some bread. Flavors are the same with some bubble gum added and a light alcohol finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Trade with Daknole, 2009 vintage. Here’s my Mardi Gras beer for tonight. In a big Duvel tulip. A darker amber pour with a thin layer of bubbles. Sweet and malty smell with more alcohol to the nose that it should be showing. Taste is bubbly first, and carries that alcohol note right on through. Toasty malts among slight bourbon flavors. A bit of yeast funk, even a touch of cheese. But all in the service of a strong ale with slight mead and other notes. Alcohol again in just the right proportions.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy amber-brown. Fluffy eggshell head and sparse lacing. Aroma of toast, bubblegum, and pear. Taste is yeasty and a little sweet with a very faint metallic quality. Bubblegum dominates above all else in this one. Medium bodied with high carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy brown-orange with two fingers of coarse, pillowy off-white head. Decent retention and thin lacing. Aroma is sour/lactic on the nose, with sour grape and pear tones, slightly vinous. Smells like a saison, looks more like an abbey double. Flavor is mildly tart up front, fading into mellow stone fruit, fig, and apple. Finishes with bread/dough tones and slight caramel malt and oak. Subtle alcohol is detectable in the finish. Soft carbonation, medium body, and a smooth texture. Somewhat dry finish. The natural fermentation and added wild yeast give it a well balanced, mild tartness. The saison and wild ale characters dominate over the double flavors, and the alcohol could be toned down a bit. Overall an interesting, intense and tasty beer.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Total Wine, Naples. Huge pressure behind the cork on this bottle. The pour’s a hazy burnt orange amber color with a massive off white head. The nose is orange, dusty basement, belgian yeast, wet grass. The taste is slightly spicy orange rind, some berry, plenty of wild saison yeast flavors. Notes of caramel and rich spices. Notes of barnyard. Heavily over-carbonated palate. Prickly carbonation dominates the mouthfeel. Overall, a bit of a mess. This is out of control.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
750mL bottle, sent from Codysjb (thanks a lot, Cody), pours a hazy dark, dirty amber with a giant beige head. Nose is like a cosmetic department of a Sears, with perfume and chemically qualities. Flavour is very strange, with paint thinner, perfume, yeasty tones, and very dry dark fruits. Very carbonated, but fitting for the style. Not sure how this qualifies as a saison - it’s a big chemically mess, though not entirely undrinkable. Not at all recommended.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sourness, dark fruit, figs, and a hint of citrus on the nose. Pours a cloudy apple cider amber with a mostly lasting off-white head and moderate laciing. The taste is a bit of sour funk, some bread, with green apple and sour cherry notes. The finish is earthy and dry. Light bodied, crisp with high carbonation…as soon as I released the wire cage, the cork tried to rocket it’s way through my ceiling! Overall, complex and enjoyable.
