Caramel brown....big, fluffy head. Aroma is funky....and fruity. The flavor is dark fruit followed by a nice sour bite. Great mouthfeel.....crisp, but full. My only complaint is the alcohol presence. A few years in a cellar would be nice.

2012 said the cork as it hit me in the head as the cage was nearly off. It then proceeded to dent the ceiling of the kitchen, and then gush out of the bottle. I was, after recovering from the moment of concussion, able to pour the beer into two glasses before all was lost. Limpo was laughing his ass off. After that bit of entertainment/drama, I was able to enjoy this brew. Gentle and balanced. Saison funk and power in one. A nice start to the session. Quickly settling head.

Shared from the bottle...in case you’re wondering, it’s still alive....take cover and aim away from face when opening. Cloudy caramel brown in the glass. Funky barn nose. Dry malt, leather, earthy goodness. Warming finish.

The yeast and herbal aroma of this beer clash a little with the malt IMO. Not bad, bust dubbel and saison are probably not 2 styles I’d cross again. OK.

Poured from a full-sized bottle into a Saint Somewhere small glass. The beer had a copper rust color with a slight amber-red hue and a very large foamy off-white head with good retention, and more average lacing and cling. The beer had an aroma of straw, cherry, grassy and herbal hops, and a good bit of floral and yeasty notes. The taste was a somewhat sweet and fruity cherry flavor with a floral component and also an underlying grassy bitterness. It was very carbonated and dry with a thin mouthfeel and dry after-effect.

Purchased a 750 ml Bottle at Whole Foods in Tampa, FL about 3 weeks ago. The cork says it is a 2013 vintage? It sat around that long? Very dark Amber color without much head. The aroma is very herbal and yeasty. The flavor show a bigger yeast profile with tea leaves, mint and mild notes of alcohol. The bitterness is lingering and herbal. Body is medium with an unpleasant after taste. This could fair better if fresh. I thought I was buying a current vintage, oh well.

2013 cork. weird. Dark brown, golden orange, 1 finger head. huge cork pop. old beer...might be amazing?
Smells like mint leaves and burnt malts and a lot of sugar. Tastes like chicken broth, mint, very bread-like yeast. Honey and some ginger. pepper. interesting. not really falling off that much.

In a goblet full of deep red-orange in the shadows, glowing prune juice orange in the light. Cloudy look, not a ton of head but it flowed from the bottle like nearly unending, bubbly lava.
The yeast aroma is absolute funk: slightly sour, slightly tart. A hint of blood orange
The combination of yeast and malt create an earthy mix in the flavor. Some grapefruit, some doughy bread.
I’ll be honest: I’m not sure this beer is tip-top, but despite its flaws, I know what it was going for.

8% bottle thanks to Nathan. Pours a hazy copper orange with medium frothy white head that lasts. The aroma is funk and brown sugar. Medium mouth with strong sugar malt, funk, light dryness.
10% bottle thanks to Nathan. Pours a cloudy orange with large frothy beige head that lasts. The aroma is earthy hop and yeast. Medium mouth with nice fruit, yeast, light dryness. Very good.

This 750ml is the slightly augmented version prepared for the Rare Beer Club.
Appearance: Pours an altogether clouded, rust-toned brown body with a fluffy, foamy, off-white head.
Smell: Stale bread crusts, modest amounts of lightly toasted nuts and sweet-scented caramel. Fruity melange alongside some funked-out vinegary notes with a distant hint of ash-covered blue cheese.
Taste: Bready, toasty base maltiness, scantly nutty with a small dose of sweet caramel and fast-moving tastes of apple juice, rose water, black cherries and tartish green grapes. Earthy spiciness of cinnamon sticks and ground pepper. As the initial fruity accents subside, a taste of fire-cured bitter orange comes in. Tart, tangy as well as funky with some vinegar elements. Brightly acidic and still very much tangy on the crisp finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. High level of carbonation.
Overall: Definitely unique, wild and interesting.

A truly unique beer. I get the Abbey dubbel qualities, the farmhouse yeast, wheat, and a bit of funk. Fun stuff, good stuff. Burnt orange with big carbonation that remains throughout.
