COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lectio Divina is a cross between an abbey double and a saison. Open fermentation with a saison strain and a dose of wild yeast at bottling add to the complexity.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Color was of brown sugar w/ an off white head. Had a very sour taste with cinnamon. Aroma was with cinnamon, granny smith apple, and cherry. Didnít care too much for this beer.

Bottle from Total Wine, Naples. Huge pressure behind the cork on this bottle. The pourís a hazy burnt orange amber color with a massive off white head. The nose is orange, dusty basement, belgian yeast, wet grass. The taste is slightly spicy orange rind, some berry, plenty of wild saison yeast flavors. Notes of caramel and rich spices. Notes of barnyard. Heavily over-carbonated palate. Prickly carbonation dominates the mouthfeel. Overall, a bit of a mess. This is out of control.

Poured a light amber color no head or lacing. Aroma was peppery and grapes/pears. Flavor was much the same some other fruit in there. Mouthfeel was flat big time. This bottle wasnít good, not sure if it was a bad bottle.

Ugh, Bottle almost took my head off then erupted on the counter. Half of a $15 beer gone. Taste is way too sweet, and a bit abrasive with yeast. Iím sure I got a bad batch, too much yeast in the bottle, but you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Poured from a corked n caged 750ml. Now I know why they cage them. Once I removed the cage, the cork slowly worked its way out and then fired at the ceiling. I thought I put a dent in the drywall but I didnít. CAREFUL!!!! Plenty of fizz white head that disappears into absolutely nothing, leaving no lacing. Mouthfeel is dreadful. Just fizz and water; tastes like over-carbonated seltzer. Aroma, however, is awesome! Light raspberries, booze and lemon, yum! Taste is kinda murky, just like the brown color. Mainly water, vinegar, light raspberries, dirt, funk and dented drywall. The rest of the bottle is a drain pour. Meh, this wasnít very good even at $8 a bottle.

Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, fully diminishing. Body is hazy medium amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, toasted grain), lightly yeasty (mold, basement), with notes of apples and pear syrup. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightlly unclean. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Second experience with this one, but just as disappointed with a bottle to myself. Clumsy, without direction or character, syrupy sweet, slightly off aftertaste. Better than the Athene, though, thankfully.

Bottle. Too sweet and syrupy and too disjointed to be very enjoyable. Short off-white head. Hazy amber body. The nose has a strong yeast smell of mold and damp basement. Behind that are some malty notes of cookie along with sweet pear and peach. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic. Some tartness in the finish. Medium body with a syrupy, sticky texture. Moderate carbonation. Alcohol warming. While the aromas and flavors are all there individually, they donít blend together the way they do in a good Belgian strong ale. In fact, they donít have much of a chance because they are overrun by the sugary sweetness.

750ml bottle...might have had this one sit a bit too long and/or had a bad bottle, so Iíll try to tone down my true thoughts on this one and give it another try in the future. Poured a light brown color with no head to speak of (bottle appeared to be under carbonated). Aroma is spicy and had notes of cinnamon, raisin, and an odd funk that did not agree with the other aromas. Flavor was very oxidized and full of cardboard...caught some notes of spice and raisin, but the cardboard notes were just overwhelming. From what I could pick up on, this acted a lot more like a saison than a belgian strong, but who knows...again, Iíll temper my true thoughts and pick up another bottle in the future.
