Commercial Description:
Lectio Divina is brewed in the spirit of the abbey ales of Belgium. Brewed with the same care and attention to the Art of Brewing that is practiced in the monastic breweries of Belgium.

Overall this is a very good beer. It pours an amber/orange color with a warming cinnamon and apple/pear aroma. Good Belgian taste to it, but the carbonation was a bit lacking. It had virtually no head, even when I poured very aggressively. I have never been disappointed by a St. Somewhere brew, though.

750 mL bottle rating. Murky orange body with lively carbonation and a frothy average sized head. Aroma of caramel toffee, sour apple, and sweet candy. Flavor doesn’t smack you like some other belgians, but in some ways, it’s kind of a nice change on the style. Very drinkable and not half bad. A little pricey however.

Served from 750 ml bottle during ABR ’08 in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a semi-hazy dark amber brew with a thick and lumpy off-white head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of tart fruit, some yeast, candi sugar and a mild barnyard funk. Taste is medium bodied with flavors of toasted biscuits, yeast, candi sugar, some tart apple and cotton candy. Finish is slightly tart with a lingering yeast and caramel aftertaste.

This dark amber ale poured with a fluffy beige head and a sour fruity aroma The flavor is sweet and sour with lots of spice and maybe some candy sugar - not as mellow as the good Belgian abbey ales it is intended to imitate - imitate being the key word here.

Pours hazy caramel color with big white head. Aromas of Belgian yeast, candy sugar and some funkiness. Mildly sweet fruitiness with biscuity yeast flavor. Medium body with tingly carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Crisp, dry finish. Pretty good.

ABR 2008. Aroma of fruit, caramel, and spices. Flavor is sweet, slightly tart also.
