4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml Bottle. The pour was a murky cranberry brown with an average (1-2 finger) off white fizzy head that dissipated so fast I had trouble capturing it in a picture, and it basically possessed no lacing at all. Also when I released the retainer on the cork it shot out all on its own, WOW that’s what I call carbonated.
The aroma was nice and tart right off the bat with a strong Brett yeast presence and a big note of ripe dark fruit (grapes, plums, and raspberry) and a slight hint of caramel.
The taste was exceptionally tart with a bold sweet fruity presence throughout, and then had a funky yeast taste work its way into the mix with a mildly sweet and sour fruity ending. Flavor lasted only a short while following the swallow, with the fruity sourness fading quickly leaving behind a slight metallic taste.
Mouthfeel was light in body and very dry in texture with a strong fizzy carbonation.
Overall this is one fantastic Saison with a nice sour Brett yeast presence; in fact I have never tasted anything like it to date. I will definitely be trying anything that this brewer puts out...

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Liquide opaque, ambrée avrc une belle mousse laiteuse. Un intéressant hybride habité de marmelade et aux accents minérales profonds. Les malts de spécialités font un excellent travail de complexification.

Served on tap in a tulip glass
Appearance – The beer is served a darker amber reddish color with a small off white head. The head fades rather quickly to leave some spotty lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is fruity and tart with a good level of funk. The fruity smells are mainly of a lighter fruit nature with apple, pear and some peach. Along with these aromas however is a tart and vinegary aroma with some hints of a sour cherry and yeast. Rounding out these smells is a funky haylike grassy smell producing an overall fruity and funked aroma.
Taste – The taste begins with the fruit that was detected in the nose. Apple, peach and pear flavors are complimented with a sour cherry taste and a bit of yeast. As the taste advances, some spices flavors as well as a bit of haylike funk nature. While these flavors persist to the end, the funk and sour cherry grow stronger and are accompanied by some boozy tastes. In the end, with an apple cider vinegar flavor getting more intense, a quite sour and fruity funked taste is left on the tongue.
Mouthfeel -The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average to above average. The slightly higher carbonation is rather nice for the fruity and funky flavors of the brew creating an overall mouthfeel that is very appropriate.
Overall – A decent saison that is worth a try if you get a chance, but is likely nothing that will totally blow you out of the water.

Beer Bloggers Conference - San Diego - Super Belgian Strong Ale. I was impressed great flavors and the yeast characters were very pleasant. Super tasty. Nice coloring and finish.

Saint Somewhere Lectio Divina is a well-executed Belgian Strong Ale. Aroma of prunes and plums coming from this dark orange-brown pour with a thick tan head that holds throughout the drink. Taste is heavy prunes and plums with a touch of funkiness. I wouldn’t say Lectio Divina is a standout Belgian ale, but is certainly enjoyable.

750 Ml bottle. Cork blew off this one before I could even touch it. Pours reddish dark with a fruity, berry aroma. Flavor of apples and berries with a little pepper and wild yeast. Finishes a little sour with more dark fruit. This one is different. Not bad at all.

Wow is this stuff overpriced. Bought a bottle of 2010 vintage and thought it tasted like caramel cigarettes. Maybe Saint Somewhere can sell the recipe to Camel.

Bottle sent by Weezel, thanks! Pours a really hazy orange brownish with an off white head and lots of lacing in the glass, aroma is pretty interesting, some sweetness mixed with a kick of a little bit of funk and barnyard and fruit at the same time, the flavor has a sweet and caramel front end with a fruit yet funky finish, slightly sour but nothing crazy, just a little different, interesting for sure.
