COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with Palmetto berries and whole Hibiscus flowers. House saison yeast strain along with a dose of wild yeast at bottling add to the complexity.

Pours a hazy ruby color with a bubbly champagne-like off-white head. Tart fruit on the nose, cherries mostly, an herbaly kind of spiciness, sweet caramel note, and a small hint of brett funk. Lots of dark fruit on the taste as well, a bit of the saison and brett funk, kind of flowery and herbal, slightly peppery, and slightly tart. Itís pretty low carbonation, which I think hurts this beer a little bit. Not super complex, but still rather enjoyable.

Poured from a corked bottle. Deep red amber colored. Vigorous, loose head that dissipated quickly. Lots and lots of fruit characters in both aroma and taste. Otherwise somewhat dull. Its alright but not very remarkable.

750ml bottle, shared with robotopera post-CWBF. Mostly hazy dark red color. Airy, khaki head. Loose dots and ropes of lace. Dark fruit, raisin, spice aromas. Kind of like a spicy, herbal dubbed. Moderate sweet taste, kind of a spicy, herbal, peppery bite. Nice dark fruity berry aromas. Good light bitter herbal flavors, a light savoriness, nice light natural tartness. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, lighter, kind of soft carbonation. Solid, interesting saison. Definitely get the berry and hibiscus in a solid, balanced way.

Bottle. Cloudy amber color. Really nice sour citrus aroma. Dry Belgian yeast and over the top carbonation.

750mL bottle about 2 years old. Aroma is surprisingly nice with moderate acidity, light fruit and faint phenolics. Fruit is citrus, tropical fruit, cherry and overripe apples. Not really any malt character. Moderate tannins compliment the acidity and fruit notes. Pours a copper orange with a thin, light tan head that quickly disappears. No lacing or legs. Flavor is moderately tart with a lot of cherry pie and pineapple. Some light fruit esters and low tannins. Malt character is washed out and unpleasant with stale cardboard and old toasted bread. Low bitterness and faint alcohol notes. Mouthfeel Is medium bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall the aroma is very nice, but the flavor doesnít match expectations. The flavor tastes like a beer that started out with a light acidity and a balanced Maly character, but the acidity had been increasing while the malt has faded. With more time maybe the malt fades completely, but with this amount of time its not great.

Bottle at Exira Beer Summit IV. Thanks to adnielsen for bringing the bottle. Pours a cloudy orangish borwn color with white head. Blueberry, floral, sweet aromas. Tangy, caramel, bitter, juniper flavors. Not a fan of this one.

Bottle @ Exira Beer Summit IV. Thanks to Dr. Owl for sending. Pours a cloudy, dark reddish orange appearance with a lasting cream colored. Somewhat floral, dark grape, berry, plum, a touch vinous, slight blueberry pie, a bit funky aroma. A bit tangy, tannic/woody, dark berry, light caramel, funky, grape flavor. Kind of twangy. Not my favorite.

Growler. Reviewed 09.13.11. Thick, dirty white head. Excellent CO2. Color of foam reminds me of a red ale. Body is cloudy, dark ruby red, yet glowing. Not the biggest sour beer drinker (a handful at most) but I can tell that is the style. A mild alcohol presence that is subdued with a pleasant sour fruit (raspberry) aroma. Taste like a juice made from dark fruits. Lingers with a beautiful combination of sweet malts and funky yeast. First time Iíve actually enjoyed this type of style to the extent of sticking with it and not reverting back to an IPA. Warm and exciting on my pallet, a lot of flavors I am not accustomed too. Taking a sip is like eating on raspberry, taste good but I want more. Take a big gulp and the flavor explodes. Body of a light malty red ale, alcohol feel of a mead, CO2 of champagne, and sour taste throughout. PDS is a perfect introdution beer for one looking to appreciate the sour-Belgian style. I am hooked and am looking forward to trying Jolly Pumpkin again when back home in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Great work from SS and I will definitely be a huge supporter of these guys from here and out.

Trade 2009 bottle. Almost knocked a piece of the ceiling loose when the cork rocketed off after being uncaged. Strangely enough no gushing beer though. really cool saison that starts true to style but then gains a ton of funk from the wild yeast. Very interesting and maybe a touch more on the sour side these days compared to the saison style. A little age did nothing to hurt this brew.

Pours a hazy golden brown on tap with bubbly off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is funky wild yeast that lends to phenolic esters when mixed with the darker malts. Taste follows, like a Belgian brown with even more funky barn house awesomeness.

750ml bottle pours a hazy copper orange with a large tab head. Citrus floral aroma. Citrus and fruit taste.
