Saison Athene is a bottle conditioned saison brewed with chamomile, fresh rosemary and black pepper. A dose of wild yeast at bottling adds to the complexity.

Bottle. Cloudy orange. Aroma of green leaves, pepper, pepto bismol, massive barnyard funk. Taste is tart and sweet. Effervescent, and a bit mulchy.

This poured a light orange with a white head. Aroma is of poop diapers and skunk. Flavor is much better, light funk, citrus, earth and light skunk. Me.

Huge whiff of chamomile, some spices. Very floral. Cloudy, light yellow, nice lacing. Medium carbonation, delicate. Light considering the abv. Solid stuff

Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks solid; a completely transparent lighter gold with foamy white head. Smells solid too; a nice balance of yeast and spice with mild notes of chamomile. You get a touch of the wild yeast in there as well. Tastes like it smells with a nice medium-bodied mouthfeel that’s on the dryer side. A good example of the style.

Cellar aged a couple years out of laziness. Cloudy off orange pour small white head. Herby aroma hints of lemon grass and white pepper. Avg palate. Nice mellow slightly sweet flavor. Good stuff.

Rated on 8-23-10 (2008 corked and caged bottle) This beer has a large very fizzy white head that mostly diminishes, transparent bright as the sun body, and a fair amount of lacing. The aromas are malt, yeast, sweet, fruity, and spice. The taste is sweet, spicy, fruity, yeasty, and a little funky tasting but in a good way. The palate is lively and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this is an easy drinking beer and is refreshing on a summer day. It is worth trying as the flavors blend together nicely and it is a beer I would drink again.

Saint Somewhere Saison Athene is perfectly balanced to provide a unique saison experience that can’t be beat. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Pour is a cloudy orange-yellow with an effervescent white head. Taste is nothing short of a treat -- orange-lemon flavor with a bit of floral and peppery notes and just enough sourness to make it interesting (but not overpowering.) Athene lingers pleasantly on the palate. I think Saint Somewhere makes some of the best saisons in the world and I am lucky to have them somewhat local here in Florida. Athene definitely lives up to that expectation.

(StLCoB tasting) gold. Tart aroma. Flavor was more sour than Saison spice.

Bomber poured into a snifter. Cloudy light gold with a huge foamy head that dissipates away. Aroma is floral, chamomile, orange blossom, pepper, funk, and yeast. Taste is mostly sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Flavors follow the aroma. The chamomile is a but much for my taste. Body is medium, a bit oily. Just OK for me, but did find that I liked it more once it warmed a bit.

750ml bottle from Dutch’s. Mostly clear golden orange color. Thin white head. Awesome big rosemary herbal aroma. Reminds me a bit of Saison du buff. Nice lemony citric aroma, works very well with the mild tart taste. Medium to bigger body. Kind of soft, but smooth lighter carbonation (once it sits and mellows out for a bit). More dry finish. Good black pepper. I’m liking this one quite a bit, definitely more than the Lectio Divina I had before it. I’m a fan of pepper and rosemary, I guess.
