Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with small frothy white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is yeast pepper and rosemary. Medium mouth feel with a light pepper and chamomile with nice crisp finish. Easy to drink hiding alcohol well, a very good saison from Saint Somewhere.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a hazy yellow blonde color with nice two finger foam... Ripe floral aromas jump out with touches of malts and herbs; sage, rosemary and chamomile... Nice mouthfeel and the palate follows the nose nicely... touch of sticky sweet honey balanced nicely by the peppery spice in the finish. Solid.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours hazy golden with a tiny head that sizzled away instantly; looks like a really nice sour/gueuze. Smells almost like a sour with hints of spices. Taste is definitely chamomile and rosemary with hints of funk and pepper on the back of the tongue. Medium-bodied with a slick texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Saint Somewhere Saison Athene finishes with a touch of pepper and spices.

ChrisO ’Night Of The Gaylords’ tasting.Cloudy beige beer. Very gassy - the cork flew out of the bottle! Light sherbet fruit and sweet malt on the nose. Light airy palate. Sourish in a medicinal sort of way. Spicy heat and a little hop bitterness. Really quite peppery in the mid and the aftertaste. Unusual and pretty good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at home, from myMinneapolis Town Hall glass. This bottle is about 18 months old or so. Had to take the cage off with wirecutters, cork blew out the second I cut the second of the four twisted containing wires. Nearly took my head off!!! Pours cloudy orange, very thick cream coloured head, no lacing. Nose is salty sweaty yeast, pumpkin, cinnamon, clove, Chinese five spice. Something tells me I shouldn’t have waited this long. It’s likely the cut on my forehead from the cage and cork ripping by that’s telling me that. Flavours of brioche, very yeasty, bright apples and pear, very funky, blue cheese and cherries. Interesting.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy yellowish gold on tap with nice white head and decent lacing. Aroma is citrus, spice, and funky belgian yeast. Taste is characteristically belgian, with hints of weird spiciness. Very interesting, and surprisingly high abv for a saison.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy golden straw color with a nice 3 finger fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some decent spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big lemon zest, floral, pepper, orange, grass, herbal, and slight funkiness. Very nice and straightforward aromas with decent complexity. Taste of lemon zest, pepper, grass, herbal, floral, coriander, orange, earth, bread, light funk, and tart earthiness. Light tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of pepper, herbal, floral, lemon zest, orange, coriander, and bread on the finish for a while. Nice balance of peppery spiciness and citrus sweetness. Fairly high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very crisp and prickly mouthfeel as expected for the style. Very easy and smooth to sip on. Alcohol is pretty much completely hidden with hardly any warming noticed at all on the finish. Overall this is a damn nice and well rounded saison offering! Nice balance of flavor complexities; and very smooth to sip on. Really well done.
