PorterPounder (2802), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 11, 2008 Orlando, Fl. - Knightly Spirits - 750 ml caged corked bottle. Pours a brilliant golden that is slightly murky and bubbly. Topped with an everlasting silky, creamy snow white head. Aroma is full of spices and herbs - cloves, cinnamon and some unknown herb - reminds me of a cross between an organic health food coop and an independent record store that sells a lot of "paraphernalia" - all in all - earthy and bold. Full-bodied, thirst quenching and bold flavor with some fruit forward notes dominated by pears. Spices are found with some of the same ones found in the aroma dominated by cinnamon. A pleasant butteriness permeates throughout. A bit of yeastiness makes its way into the back end. Mouthfeel is creamy, yet spritzy at the same time. A most enjoyable Saison - highly recommended by SoLan - thanks for the tip. Will keep my eyes out for these guys as they hopefully expand across th sate.
Beer_2000 (1135), Kristiansand, Norway Aug 7, 2008 750 ml bottle. Hazy yellow/orange body with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is fruity, spicy and yeasty. Flavor is fruity, citrus, spicy, coriander and some esters. Quite original, but well balanced. The first sips made me a bit confused, then I start enjoying it, and at the bottom of the bottle I found it quite quaffable. Thaichile (573), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA Aug 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with a pillowy head floating on top. Nose is spice and barnyard. Great spice profile on the palate that pairs with slight saison tang but this is a completely smooth drinker, but even a little too smooth. This is a great saison !! matt7215 (515), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Aug 3, 2008 750 ml bottle corked and caged. from my secret santa. pours hazy golden with very active carbonation and a lovely white head. aroma of hops and funk, spice, yeast, pale malts. flavours are similar with more pale malts shining through then the other components. not quite enough funk but still very good. 750 mls wasnt enough of this one. thanks santa for this amazing saison! cmillward (155), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a fizzy white, leaves some lacing. On the nose pepper, some brett farmhouse funk, rosemary, cloves, hay, all over a light toasted malt aroma. In flavor, some nice light maltiness, pepper, apricot, bananas, cloves, more funk, touch of lemon, some earthy note, with a satisfying bitter finish. This has a wonderful mouthfeel, high carb--just right for the style. Lush bubbles, and wonderfully dry. Overall, a heavily spiced, slightly funky saison. I am very impressed. WISEGUY572 (1090), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 31, 2008 Sweet nose contrasts nicely with citrus and spice flavor ... interesting even if not entirely authentic or anticipated. Beautiful golden amber, hazy, huge firm white head, surprisingly little lace. Moderately hopped, interestingly spiced, and quite enjoyable. But how can a beer have a nose that it sweet and a citrus and funky taste?
